My friend has an 04 400ex and I have an 05. I kill him on take off by 4 wheeler lengths. when we both hit 4th gear, he tools on me bad, even worse in 5th.

We dragged 12 times in a row, put same psi in tires (have difference brand tires, but are same design) Both are done stock. what gives?

like you said..you smoke him off the line....different gearing, your sprockets are geared more for low end power/torque, whereas his give top speed....the way the bikes were broken in and the weight of the rider also plays a role

I would rather have more low end than top especialy me being a woods rider and all

I realize that gearing would change that, but is there different ratios between the two quads? Both of us have driven our machines like they have been stolen. maxxed out, right off the truck.

you have a 14/39 gearing i believe and he has a 15/38... the 14 gives u more bottom end off the line but less top, the 15 gives him less bottom but more top, that is the reason
