Would one of these older engines bolt right into a stock yfz450 frame? I know 400, 426, and 450 bike engines are the same just different bores and strokes but same bolt pattern and i was wondering if anyone know if the 450 bike and quad engines have the same bolt pattern. Thanks alot.

I believe they're different. I remember bansheebc (bob at magnolia) sold his yfz motors and was going to drop the yz's in but decided not to as there was to much modification to get them to fit. You're better off just stickin with the yfz motor/frame and doing the wr kit if you're looking for a true 450.

While the yz motor is probably cheaper used, I don't think it'd be worth the extra hassle to modify the frame and such.

does the kick clear or are you going to need an extension for it?

i have a kicker from a 98 400 on it now and it needs more bend to it, going to try some others. might see if the yz250f will fit these splines if so i think it will work if not i will order a walsh spacer.

It looks like you'll have to buy or make an extension for the kickstarter. I don't know of any kickstarters that would extend out enough to clear the frame. Maybe a '98 and up YZ250 kicker? Good luck. Looks really good so far.
