I'm putting a 440 together for my son and thinking about getting the hot rod crank and wondering how they hold up.

I would recommend a Carrillo rod. They are probably the strongest rod on the market, and you can buy one directly from Carrillo Industries for $175. You will have to have it installed, but that shouldn't cost more than about $75-$100 if you remove the crank yourself. It sounds like a lot of money, but you'll probably be buying a complete engine if the rod snaps. It's especially a good investment if you decide to run anything higher than about an 11:1 compression ratio. Good luck with the build.

I would recomend a carrilo or the knifed rods that falicon sells. The Hot rods don't look any stronger than stock.
