Hi folks, just bought a stage 1 cam, putting it in my 400, stock bore, just pipe and filter, and rev box. Will i notice a large power gain? Will i have to re-jet?

youll feel more of your power in the mid range and up. wont hurt to check the plug after you get it runnin though. might have to go up a jet size.

actually with the stage1 you will feel more lowend than anything. you wont feel much, but you will feel something

you ll feel a differance but to get the most outta it drop a wiseco 11:1 piston in it with XR400 gaskets, you will feel ALOT more power

With the 11:1 will i have to run higher octane fuel?

You will only need 92/93 octane.

If you're worried about running pump gas, JE has a 10.8:1 piston that should work great. I run an 11:1 Wiseco, and I don't have problems anywhere but the dunes. I run 50/50 there. If you want to stay with the stock bore, you'll just have to have the bore mic'd to make sure it's within limits, and then honed to give the new rings something to break in with. It's an extra $120 that you won't regret. And just so you know, my stage 1 HotCam gave me great improvements across the board, but it really has strong midrange power. With my mods, my quad will pull third to the top of any dune in Glamis.
