View Full Version : Broken Axle carrier

I went to Sand Mountain this weekend and ended up breaking my axle carrier into two pieces and snap two swing arm bolts. It was only about a 60 ft. jump but when I landed the carrier broke and the whole axle slid forward.
I am going to just upgrade to a new swinger and carrier. What is a good swing arm for a person on a budget? I'm not really looking to spend over $600. I don't race but I do hit some decent size jumps. Not anything over 70 ft. though.
The only good news about the weekend is that I got to ride and jump my friends CRF450F dirt bike. :D

$600 budget.....
Burgard carrier and swing arm
There maybe others in that range but you may need to make some calls.

i know you dont have but a 600 dollar budget...for that you could get a LSR swinger for 575...i think it would be worth it. Burgard is a good name, but ive seen far more problems from burgard on this site....and none from LSR... for the carrier id either put up the 220 for a LSR or go stock

My friend just did the same thing to his 300ex. The carrier just snapped in half.

bc theres 2x the amount of burgard parts on here...
A burgard rear carrier is identical to and LSR carrier... put them next to each other and i bet u cant tell which one is which...
i personally run burgard parts and have had 0 problems!!!

Thanks for the replies. I think I may just end up getting a stock carrier so I can at least ride. Then I will start saving up so I can spend the money I need to get a good quality swing arm. I don't want to spend $500-600 now and be sorry later. I should be able to get a stock carrier for pretty cheap.
Who knows I may just end up getting the new suzuki 450. If Doug Gust is going to run the stock suspension I should be fine;)

i broke my axle carrier and did some research and ended up getting a tapered bearing carrier for about 200 bucks (costs more but is worth it in the long run) was the cheapest i could find and they last twice or three times *** long as normal carriers bc the bearings are tapered, there is also a grease zerk that u can grease from the outside.
