well, ive been into atvs for 7 years now, and i wanted to try something new this upcoming year, of course, i could never abandon my quad, so it will stay with racing it as i always do, but, i wanted to get into mx this upcoming year, just to give ita try, i have ridden dirtbikes before, infact 4 years back i had an eighty that i raced in local harescrambles (ive raced xc and harescrambles my whole life, for atvs, and dirtbikes)

but i guess alot can change in 4 years, and ive grown bigger, so i need a bigger bike, so ofcourse that means more power, and i dont want to get in over my head

anyways, im about 5'6-5'7 and weigh about 118 or so pounds

what kind of dirtbike do you think would be good for me?

i havent been to a dealership in a while, so i dont know how big most bikes are anymore

anyhelp would be great, thanks guys

I'm going to get back into dirtbikes here soon and try and race both :D

I'd go with a 125, or a 250 four stroke, honda and yamaha are good brands. I'll be going with either a 05 yz125, or maybe a yz250f possibly a crf.

if you are serious about racing get an rm-z250. In my opinion (ridden all of the 250f's) it is the best one made.

the 04 honda's did. Yamaha has had the 4 stroke motors out there the longest, Doug Henry raced the first yz400f, then it turned into a yz426 and so on.

All the new hondas are good now, no problems. They made alot of changes, new cam, lighter weight overall.

The suzukis and kawaskis had BAD over heating problems, I belive they fixed it for 05 though.

seem like hes a little small for a 125 or 250f, what about a kx100 or just boring your 85 to a 100 and getting tall seat foam or something

thanks for the help guys, tommorrow were gonna go to the dealer and look a some 125s and 250fs and see which one we like best

basically right now im thinking, 125 and 250fs are almost the same, exceot 250s have a much faster and snappier power delivery, and when the 125 hits a powerband, it takes off

so i figured both are equally scary to a beginner, so im lookingmore into the 250f, since the whole 2-stroke thing is goin out of style nowadays, the 250f wont be to much, just as long as i take it easy and get used to it

Dont worry about the 125's scaring you, i went from a xr100 to a yz125 and the only thing that bothered me was not being able to touch the ground cuz i was only 13, so just see which one would suit your needs better and you are good to go :macho
