if you get a R1 the money you would use for gas in something else you would spend on insuranse. :ermm:

i love my 750, plenty of power and turns in great. my buddy had his 1000 stolen and got a new 750, and is happier with the 750. personally, i dont like chrome, polished is sweet though:macho

insurense is cheaper for a crotch rocket than it is for a car. The reason why it's so cheap is because 3/4 people under 21 that own a (crb600 specifically) will die. that is scrary

get liability only for insurance. have you ever had a bike before? dont get a gsxr unless its a new literbike. i dont know much about the new 1000 though. the r1 is prolly the top bike out there. i dont care what anyone says about gsxr's zx's they may be alittle faster but you dont need it. i have a cbr600 and its plenty fast to get yourself killed on. cbr's are more of a nuetral bike they arnt the fastest but the ride and handling are phenominal. the only problem i have is my seat isnt the most comfortable for long rides(what sportbike is) but hondas use stiffer seat foam

liability is cheap, but full coverage will buy you a new bike every year. reason for that is that basically anytime a person wrecks a bike, and its fully covered, the insurance company will go ahead and scrap it... that is a good reason why you have to make sure a used bike has a clear title. as for seat foam and comfort, it seems to me as the years go by that the bike manufacturers keep on using stiffer foam. my gsxr actually has a very comfortable, or atleast as comfy as an rocket gets.... as for good bikes, all of the major jap rockets are great, i prefer yamaha ans suzuki personally, but thats just my opinion. here is my take on the big 4:
honda: a little heavier, a tinch bit less power (or atleast a bit mellower) but stable and predictable
yamaha: weigh less, solid power through out the powerband, stable, but touchier than honda
suzuki: basically the same as yamaha
kawasaki: seems that the peices are lighter, and overall pretty touchy when compared to the honda, just not as stable
as a beginner bike, please dont get a 1000, stick with an 600, maybe 750. probably the best advice would be to get on a friends and see which you lke the best sitting, and maybe see if you can ride it

i never ever rode a motor cycle before...but i have a yz 125. i went out and bought an r1 as my first actual motorcycle...the first ride out i scare the snot out of me. after that i couldnt be happier with my bike. once you hit 100 on a bike/car anything....everything under 100 seems slow. i feel like im going 2mph when i get behind a slower car doing40-45 because im in first gear

dont do what he did get a 600 first. literbikes will sneek up and bite you real quick. it can be done but your just making it that much easier to kill yourself. granted i dont know you but just think of the people you know. is havinga r1 over having a 600 really woth it. you'll pull the same amount of ***** on a 600 that you will on a 1k
