We call em' garden spiders around here. I don't know they're real name though.:ermm: They get BIG. They don't hurt anything, and I've heard they're good for gardens.

http://pictureposter.allbrand.nu/pictures/Racer98/Picture%20019.jpg That's what I call them. Banana spiders. They do get pretty big, but they won't hurt anything (except other insects). I've had one of them hanging out just outside the backdoor for about a week.

I think they are called garden spiders but everyone calls them bannana spiders.
The females are the bigs ones. The tiny ones in the web with her are the males

Quote from a spider website
"Black and Yellow Garden Spiders are harmless to humans. Because they are large, many people fear them; however, not only are they harmless, but they do a lot of good. These spiders eat large amounts of insect pests, such as flies, mosquitoes, and aphids."

Banana Spider

A very large common spider in North America. Usually hangs in webs with its head facing the ground. It is brightly colored. Its venom is a neurotoxin similar to that of the black widow. However, its venom is not near as potent. Its bite causes local pain and redness with blisters forming. This bite usually resolves within 24 hours except for the bite mark.

I have been bitten on the face by a large Banana Spider.
They do have venom but not too powerful.

I rode my 400 mistakenly through a large web and later discovered it bit me on the face after my eye and forehead swelled up.

Never felt it bite me though.

Throw an insect in one of their webs and see how fast those guys are.

lol

i had the garden one in my garden.

we were not sure if it was poisenos or not.

but the flame thrower idea is good!

i have don it with GUM OUT or DRAGON FUEL there carb cleaners. they are very cumbustible. they makes WD-40 look like WATER!!

i have tryed the wd-40 and realy it is not as good as the other things a said.

isnt carb cleaner more alchohol based?

that would explain why they are so much more flammable then wd-40

09-05-2005, 11:09 AM
I use carb cleaner. This one time i was shooting a flame and the flame almost went in to the back of the can, the would not of been good:eek:
