Hey this is my first post. I recently sold my 01 rm125 and am buying a 2002 400ex with a pro armor full underbody skid plates, pro armor nerf bars with heel guard and foot pegs,K&N air filter,Dyno jet kit, Acerbis hand guards, pro grip hand grips, twist throttle kit,Renthal handlebars,White Brothers exhaust system, douglas .190 rims, and Mud shark tires. How is this going to compare to the RM? Any tips for matinence and keeping the quad in good shape? Any other mods that are good for this? Thanks. all responses are apreciated.

Hey Buddy,

Congratulations on the 400EX, it is a fun quad that you can do a lot to. Just make sure you change the oil often, also get a service manual, it will tell you how to do it all.

Probably slower than the 125. Linear power - not the power band you are used to with the 2 stroke. Lot's better out of the corners. Replace the stock shocks if you are going to do any jumping or fast trail riding. What he said about the oil.

you are going to HATE the twist throttle on a quad. espacially over the whoops i tried it on mine and it was terrible. my friend had one and he hated it. went back to thumb immidately.

a guys wife crashed a blaster over the whoops cause the throttle got stuck open due to the twist motion

its gonna feel like your riding a slug at first compared to an rm125. i went from a 400ex to a rm125 back to a 400ex and i must say the 125 is a huge difference, when the powerband hits you GO! but anyways, the 400 is a fun, reliable quad and youll love it
