Best chain set up

what is the best chain and sprocket set up? i run a 400ex with 18 inch tires in the rear. someone told me 16 front 38 rear. i want the best setup for quick acceleration for mx tracks... thanx

try 14/38. a 16/38 combo will actually take away acceleration and replace it with top end.

but he has 18 inch tires, stock 400's have 20 inch tires in the rear... stock gearing is 15/38 or 37 i believe. I would do the 16/39, the 16 ups the top speed but the 39 brings it back down just a little to prob about the right place.

I run a 15/38 and it works perfect for all around riding. I also have 14/38 for smaller, tighter tracks. And yes I have 18 inch tires. Do you have any motor work done? Mines a 426 port and polished, sparks advanced timing key, valve job, a hot cams stage 2 cam and a barnette clutch and the gear I use has great acceleration and top end.

i wish i had half the stuff done to my quad that you do lol...nah shes stock for now... once i grow some more money ill put some stuff on it but it'll be stock for a little while longer...thanx for the replies everyone....
