Well wehnver i start up my quad when i get ready to go riding for a day while i warm it up it makes like a knocking sound in my engine somwhere but i'm not sure. I 've had my quad for a while now. My 6 month warrenty expired like 2 days ago or sumthing,and idk what it is. after it warms up and i go ride it, it doesn't make that sound anymore. I haven't worried about it and i have like 1000 hours on my quad. and i still on the same sparks plug. The knocking noise is prolly just because the engine is cold,but thats just my guess.:confused:

Crank may need rebuild. You could have a long-rod 250Ex and not even know:devil:

It could be valves clicking. Maybe knocking isnt the word you meant to use? Hopefully, for your sake, it was the wrong word.

might be the gas your running, if your running 91 octane then i don't know whats wrong but if your running a lower octane then switch to 91 octane or higher.

well on my old 250ex it always did it for like 2-3years still dose it and i think almost all of them do it.........

The valves need to be adjusted.

You'll need to take the gas tank off I think. Then you can see two round covers directly on top of the motor. take them off and stick a feeler guage in there, I don't know exactly what the clearance is supposed to be, but there is a little nut on the top that would need to be tightened because it has worked itself loose. This ois probably your problem.

well when my old 250 did it we adjusted the valves and that wasnt it.....but that could be your problem.

my buddies 400ex does that, when its warms up its fine...

that would be the valves knocking you would need to replace them and the cam with the rockers i had that happen with my 250x
