I am installing a new JE pistons 500 cc kit tomorrow. No real head work done, HRC cam and stock carb. And a 13:1 piston. I'm headed to the dunes for the weekend and am wanting to beat my buddies on their yfz's. Should I be able to do this? They only have a pipe and filter and jet kit.

yeah, especially if ur a good rider. I can beat YFZ's and my engine is stock...i dont want any YFZ guys saying "u should race me" and stuff like that now just cause i said that.

i would say it sounds about like a stock 450 dirtbike, maybe a little louder. and this is the race version, which is shorter and don't have a sparky.

pm mixmastermike. i think he has the longer version on a 450r.

I like the sound of my Dr.D. It doesn't sound overly loud. It does sound like the stock CRF450. Oh BTW, I do have the sparky version.

I have the sparky version too. I bought a quiet core to go with it, but I don't feel that I need it. Its a little bit louder than the hrc endcap, but not that much.

I would really hope that a 500 big bore would out run a piped and jetted yfz, if it won't you have some problems
