When you guys are putting the aftermarket clutch perches like PEP and AVS how are you making it so that you still have reverse, Im in desperate need of the lever but I am also desperate to keep my reverse.

Check out this thread

I have an RTC clutch lever and the reverse mod. Works much better(and easier) than stock. You just need to cut the 2 wires going to the stock perch and connect them together or it will only start in neutral. I think all the other info you need is in the thread. Hope this helps

It will NOT go into reverse while it is in a forward gear. I have tried. The only issue I have found is that the quad will start without pulling in the clutch.

why would the reverse cable have anything to do with the quad starting with out the clutch, anyway i also pull the clutch to start even if its in neutral. But I will consider doing this, where did you get your lever from?

It isn't the reverse cable that makes it start in gear it is the two wires that go to the stock clutch. As long as you are in the habit of pulling in the clutch to start you'll never have a problem. I got the reverse lever from someone on eBay(can't remember the username). Just do a search for 300ex reverse and it should come up.

The only downfall to the chaining the reverse lever, is that you can pull it into reverse while it's in neutral without pulling the clutch in.

It wont pull while in a primary gear.

why cant i just use a spring to hold the reverse mechanisim in place and when i want to go in reverse pull in the clutch and then lift the reverse handle. That sounds like it would work... right?

Yep. It'll work just fine. Replacing the reverse lever is optional

Umm. No I still have reverse. You can use the stock reverse handle OR you can replace it with a foot shifter like mine. I just simplified the procedure by replacing the clutch lever with aftermarket and used the spring to replace the reverse cable.

I think on the new 400ex you have to turn a reverse knob and push down to get reverse. The 450r has no reverse.
