I just got Elka dual rate SSD shocks on my 300 and i noticed something when i came back from the MX track the other day. The left side's small spring compresses when the quad is on the ground with nobody on it. I called elka and sebastion said that it was normal but then i told him that my right side doesnt do it he said that my a arm bolts may be too tight. Does anybody know what is going on??? And before people start saying check the preload ring, they are both as loose as they go. Thanks,
Steve

I would guess your a arms are binding because the bolts are too tight. My elkas upper spring stays compressed also. that is how SSD shocks are supposed to be. Unbolt your shock on the side that isn't compressing and see if they move freely. If not re torque your bolts. If you do need to loosen the bolt a little make sure you put some blue locktite so they don't back off.

Are you talking about the inner tie rod ends coming loose? I thought they had a cotter pin? If not try blue locktite on them also.

yeah its the inners coming loose should i pull out the codder pin and then tighten them... should they be snug or nice and tight?

I'm not really sure exactly how tight they should be. I would say a little more than snug but not too tight. You don't want to strip the threads. If you have a torque wrench I could look up the specs in my manual for you so you could get it properly tightened.

Your elka problem doesn't sound right. I dont think that the elka can really bind up even if the bolt is overly tight, because of the spherical bearings right? Was the quad on level ground when you noticed it like this? Try taking the shocks and switching them around, like put the left on the right and vice versa. See if that changes anything.

I did not try switching them but i will try that tomorow. Thanks. I am also going to check the a arm bolts.
