yeah if u wanna butcher sumthing by putting a z400 in it how about a 400ex?? or just get new suspension for yur z400. putting that engine in an R frame isnt gunna make a good z400, its just gunna make a POS R.

I don't know about that. I've seen a few experts that will say the Z400 is a GREAT basis for a powerful motor. Of course, this is with extensive mods, boring, stroking, porting, ect. I don't think it's as good as the newer 450s, but better than the 400EX motor.
However, the frame isn't the best on them things.
Me, personally, I would never ruin a good 250R by putting a 4-stroke motor in it, but I could see where somebody else just might. Of course, if I was going to go that route, I would probably go with a motor even better than the Z400. It's a good motor, but it's not the BEST motor...

went through 3 cam chains in 4 rides on my modded Z , then got the R, and never looked back.

better off using the extra money to build a sick 250r motor. build a stroker motor or something. i bet you will spend less money doing that than building a z400 motor.

its just a matter of choice. do you like zingers or thumpers. i myself having owned a race cannondale and having the r. i preffer the torque and powerband of a thumper. but you cant beat the handling of the r. my dale was too wide at the tank. the z sits too high. the yzf is a comfortable bike execpt for the seat but it feels like your riding on top of the bike. i myself like to feel like i am riding in the bike. i would choose a different motor though. the z motor just runs out of steam. trust me i have owned all of them except the yzf which a friend owned
