best cdi for 300ex?

How safe are these? Do you still have the rev limmiter just at a higher rpm? How much do they usualy cost?

there safe and it is still the rev limiter but allows the engine to rev out much higher and brings better power from the engine
they run at lowest about 40....i wounsnt get a big gun b/c it needs a full battery to even start the quad...i havent looked into cdis much so i cant tell u a good one but do not get the big gun...

Does it change the rev limit for reverse also?

I'm told a 350x cdi fits on too, someone here might know if it does any good, I know a 350x has a real high rev limit or no rev limit(part of the reason why they have a problem with the cam journals scoring, the main reason is a lack of oil and high revving makes it worse).

if you get an OEM 300ex cdi thats been modified to remove the rev limiter, it will also remove the limiter in reverse(same circuit). you will have no problems starting it with any type of cdi on the 300ex, the 400ex's have that problem because some companies are just selling xr250 cdi's that are for kick start bikes. be careful of cheap aftermarket cdi's on ebay and such, they're usually inferior imports that can have problems. the 350x cdi has no rev limiter, but won't work with the 300ex. it will work on the 250x when you switch two wires.
