Need new rears for the 400. I dont need 6-plys or anything heavy. So whats a good liteweight rear tire? Which one is lighter, razrs or knarlys? Or is there something better yet?

I have never weighed them, but I know the light weight and their spinning/hooking combination is why a lot of XC racers run the tires. And even their 4ply tires are very durable

Holeshot MXR's are probably the lightest tire going, but they are also extremely small and wear incredibly fast. The mxr4's are a little heavier but last twice as long, but its still not long compared to other mx tires.

the problem with the mx's is that the largest size you can get them in is the 19's. they are definately shorter than the stock 20's

the stock tires on a 400ex, 450r, z400, or yfz are all fairly light tires that hook good (when the tread is new). they do get flats easier, flex in corners a lot, and wear much quicker. however, they ride smooth and seem to wobble less at high speeds on paved surfaces.

I was unaware the he needed stock size tires!? He didn't mention that but whatever......... The stockers are also a good choice, they are all radial tires and hook up pretty good in a wide variety of terrain, I've never had a problem with flats on my stock tires!

oh, i don't know that he does need stock sized tires. just most people find that being a problem unless they are mx-ing. :)

stock 400ex ohtsus CANT be beat! they are featherwight, have really good hookup and their cheap. the only problem is that they wear somewhat fast and they are thin.. but that contributes to good bite and lightweight. no matter what you choose, youll compromise something.
