I need some inf oon how you all are putting on your 450r carbs on your 400ex.???

Once you have installed the Carb, how do you keep from the gas tank rubbing on top of the Carb?? When we first put the Carb on, we were told to put rubber gromets under the fuel tank ,keeping the tank off th Carb. BUT... This also pushes up on the plastic, and I am getting new plastic so I wanted to see if theres a better way to do this...Also, any pics or links ot threads would be much appreciated..

I put a pc of foam tape on top of the carb and that seems to work fine...

i used a piece of foam tape that you put on the bottom of truck caps to keep from scratching the bed you can get it at walmart or any automotive store

i think the guy on here that built a 650ex ended up molding the gas tank with very small amounts of heat and a spoon. check it out.

I used a .125 washer to shim up the white plastic cover
under the tank.

One washer both sides, between frame and plastic shield.
So far no leaks. :)
