thanks,
jared The 250x's are not very fast, but the best mod for them is red powerbands, and alot of stickers, i highly reccomend this one.

55-60mph

just spend money on gears for 70mph, you'll loose bottom end though

get a 15 or 16 tooth front sprocket, you will loose tons of acceleration

you will beat a honda rancher with a stock 250x

and yeah, dude, that sticker really works:D

they r 4 strokes right?also do they have a clutch and reverse?

why do you want it to do 70 mph.. who cares how fast it is.. as long as it gets you through the trails.. the ONLY place youl lbeable to open it up to that kinda speed is on a seriously long straight , going down hill, with the wind to your back.

when are n00bs gonna learn that speed is nothing, ability is everything.

A 250x will do about 55. To make it go 70 you need about $1500. Sell the 250, get $1500 for it, then spend $3000 on a 400ex with a built motor. Presto, you are going 70, and can easily beat a rancher.

$1500 NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

less than $100 on a sprocket

i don't know where you get your ideas

i guess a top fuel dragster cost $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to you

hrmm.. i guess it musta slipped your mind that your gonna NEED THE MOTOR TO PULL THE LONGER GEAR!

if you just did gearing on a stock 250x, not only would you probably never hit the speed, but you would burn up the motor and clutch faster than all hell..

but what do i know, im just the ******* that gets people fired up LOL.. Go back to school kid.

I used to have a very mildly built 87' 250x, was bored .030 over with a wiseco 12:1 comp piston ( which by the way was not a good choice for the woods riding ) a whitebros. all around cam with some headwork and one of the original supertrapps. With a 15t on the front, ( which I had to slightly trim my case with the chain I had for it to fit ) and a 36t on the rear, It clocked 74mph, and that was from a police radar gun. That was with 20's tires on the rear and a 150lb rider.

alloymx428 - now besides being a post whore you are a douche.

to get it up to 70mph, put a huge *** front sprocket on it and go down a large hill.

yes, it will beat a rancher in everycategory besides pulling.

You are only quoting half of my post, if you dont read the other half, it makes it sound like I believe it costs $1500 to make a 250x go that fast. I was saying that he could sell his 250 for $1500, add another $1500 to that, and he would have enough for a 400ex with motor work done.

I know you can make a 250x go 70 with less than $1500. It just wont perform like a 400ex would. I am not stupid. But what is stupid is this argument. We will probably get this thread banned.

good luck getting a 15 or 16 tooth on a 300ex...and even IF you do, you wont be able to run a case saver....

yeah.... I was running no case save and actually had to trim my side case with a grinder for the 15 to have enough clearance for me to feel safe enough about running it. Of course with no case save how safe was it anyway

Uhh you prolly need to because that engine aint going to have enough power stock to turn that sproket.

Yeah....a 250X won't pull tall enough gearing to go very fast.

And to the people that keep saying "Speed is nothing, Ability is everthing"

Thats not the truth in ALL cases. In woods, yes, you can't get up to top speeds most of the time, so ability is usually everything.

But think about Best In The Desert or Baja......ability is a lot, but if you can only do 55...your not gonna have a chance in the world of winning. Us desert guys will get up to 110 is some cases...yes ability is needed to do that, BUT speed is a lot also.
