The weather has been good, so we added a new double double section.

Making the first double wasnt so bad, I didnt even have to adjust the landing.

Pappy
08-28-2005, 12:53 PM
Trying to figure out the spacing for the second one proved a bit harder, but I think I got it right

Pappy
08-28-2005, 12:55 PM
The first double is almost perfect for him, smooth as glass

Pappy
08-28-2005, 12:56 PM
The second double needs more landing height so I will add to it

I did not measure them, I have a pretty good feel for what he can safely do. Im geussing the gap is only 12 or so feet on the first one and maybe 15 to 18 on the second one.

When I had the yellow set mounted on the other 90, we notched the area where the brake lever mounts so they sould sit level. We didnt on this quad, and a roll over or two bent one of the mounts. So we swapped on a set we had laying around, acerbis i think.

Pappy
08-28-2005, 03:43 PM
the landing is smooth, its like anything, if you dont hit the downside they will bottom just like the big quads.

Photos like these help me understand why you moved to WV and left MD behind in the dust. Well, I have to get back to work on coverage.

awesome. cody is going to be one of those big names when he turns 16. kinda like a jeremiah jones figure. i cant wait to see him go into the sport class in gncc or gnc. he will be awsome to watch and look at the pictures. he has a certain style that gets everyone looking.

does he race xc or mx? that little bugger looks good.

Pappy
08-28-2005, 07:43 PM
he mainly races XC, and he has raced 1 mx and a TT race.

i appreciate the good words, but if he never amounts to anything more then a backyard hero, thats ok in my book!

Pappy you certainly have the right attitude encouraging your son along it seems. Seems too many parents push a talented son/daughter way to hard and put too much pressure and it basically ruins them.

It seems like you are keeping it fun for him and that is really what this is all about. Keep it fun, and he will certainly do better in life than if he was driven by others, and not himself, to be the best.

Pappy
08-28-2005, 09:22 PM
dont get me wrong, i do push him. if he is going to do something he will learn to do it right to avoid pain....lol and if racing is what he wants to do, he will train. we actually have to have him loose some weight. since i was sick, he has gotton heavy(no riding, all eating). it sucks to tell him that but he knows its for the best and for his health. ofcourse, riding tends to shed them pounds so he looses weight and gets seat time...its win win:p i just wish it worked for me! hahaha

our next national is in september, he will be ready:macho he is currently 3rd in points and with 3 races to go he needs good finiahes. i told that to him yesterday, and explained he needed to finish solid if he wanted to stay top 3.

his reply....."how far am i from 1st because thats where we need to be"!

What happened, last I heard I thought he was first in points? And good luck with the racing, it seems like Cody deffinatley has the drive to want to win pritty bad.

Pappy

he won the opening round at Steel Creek, followed by 7th at Big Buck. There he crashed pretty hard and had to work his way back up. The Penton was a nightmare with mud mud mud, and after the first lap both rear tires were flat. That didnt seem to bother him, and bad luck hit him as he got caught up in a bottleneck that forced a large number of racers on the lead lap to have to do sort of an impromtu restart. all the while, the leader was broken down on teh last lap. luck smiled and the leader was able to finish. Spotters told me that cody was up to 5th at the restart but at the finish, he got shoved sideways and 3 or 4 quads atleast nudged infront of him in line. the officials said they caught it but i dont think they did:( So a 1st, 7th and a 9th moved him back to 3rd. Thats racing, and the talent he is up against in his class is top notch, the best youth XC riders in the country so we are not ashamed to be 3rd!

Pappy
08-28-2005, 09:37 PM
People are probably sick of this picture, its from his win at Steel Creek. Actually near the start...he is clean...lol

For the folks that pm'd and emailed me, the elka shocks work! it may not look like much shock but they perform so much better then stock. the biggest complaint i have, and its with the single arm design not the shock, is the way the front end handles when landing.

I took a series of shots tonight to try and see if anyone could help with this, or as i think, im stuck due to the design.

Take off

approaching the landing

Pappy
08-30-2005, 05:15 PM
upon landing, the wheels are buckling. i have the next heavier main spring, but it doesnt appear to actually be bottoming the suspension so i dont think its needed.

Pappy

we will make the announcement with ordering instructions when they are completed. you will order directly from the graphics company so there is no middle man involved.

I climbed up on my UTE to get another angle of the front end. each picture i see, it seems as if the tires are changing angles, im pretty sure its related only to the design, but if anyone knows inform mee so i can stop worrying..lol

in this pic the left front looks toe'd in:ermm:

08-30-2005, 05:28 PM
in almost every picture he has the wheels truned slightly to the right.... idk if that helps at all.

Pappy
08-30-2005, 05:34 PM
i just asked him why, i thought it was to look cool..lol he said the lips need to either be leveled or something along those lines. he said when he launches it kcks the rear sideways a little bit and he corrects, the bars just turn with his changing of riding position. i looked over the front end, only thing wore is the tie rod ends getting loose, and a bent right front rim.

i really dont think that bike was ment for that kinda ridding thats why the wheels are doing that...

yea but honda, yamaha or suzuki need to step up and build one from the factory that wont cost an arm and a leg...

Pappy
08-30-2005, 07:43 PM
heck, i just wish they would build one with updated engine and suspension...lol

fastrider450r
08-30-2005, 07:47 PM
i agree on the handling and suspension, all honda, suzuki, etc...make is just rec. quads and they dont handle worth crap.

for those who think cody is fast...HE IS.. i have seen him race a couple the GNCC youths and he flies. He is 3rd in his class and my cousin Travis Jumper is 4th in the class...so it is pretty cool to see them battling it out.

I've seen his 90 up close at the races and that thing is sweet Pappy. Nice work!!!

Pappy
08-30-2005, 07:50 PM
thanks man, and yeah we have travis by 1 point...lol i think next year cody will grow a bit more, be alot stronger and be able to make a run for the youth points title. walker fowler, micheal keleman, they are incredibly talented and chasing them down the next 3 races is going to be fun!

fastrider450r
08-30-2005, 07:56 PM
yeah its going to be pretty fun to see all them battle it out. Travis is good at endurance races like that cause he is used to riding a 250R all the time and im sure cody is on the 450R a lot?

If I see u ill have to say hi at the next ones...but im not quite sure what u look like? oh well, were u at the GNCC Wisp this past race? it was my first national and I was in the sport class...man that was fun and really rocky.:eek2: I got second...better than I thought.

Pappy
08-30-2005, 08:03 PM
if you see cody, i will be next to him. be sure to say hello.

cody rides the 90 mainly, he is just too short to comfortly ride and handle the full size quads. he rides for 30 minutes a night usually, and moves that too 45 minutes to an hour the weeks leading to the gncc race. the mud got in both rear tires at the penton and he was so wore out from it he slept for like 2 days haha.

i am really excited to see what all these young racers do when they hit 16 and start in the big classes. being that most youth riders did not get the racing expierence these giys will have for the past 10 years it should insane!

ballance, yokely, johnny g all had the benefit of this type of racing from a very young age and we all see where they are! i have no ambition for my son's to do anything more then have a great time, and build memories that will last them a lifetime. if becoming a great racer happens along the way then that is excellent!

i sure wish i had this kind of fun when i was 11:D

Pappy
08-30-2005, 08:12 PM
This is our new backyard table. not really new, but i changed it, and added to it. tape says 30 feet from point of take off to point of landing. maybe ill hit it:eek2:
