Im getting a 450 and I do a lot of sand dragging. I was wondering what your guys setups are for sand dragging. Or if you don't sand drag, what you think would be a good setup. Like exhaust, paddles, gearing, etc.
Thanks in advance

You need a goodset of paddles. I prefer Scat-trak Haulers or Extreme Haulers. I have 6 and 8 paddles. More paddles help you off of the line, less paddles help you on top end. If you're running short distance (300 ft) get 8 paddle. If you're running longer, get less paddles. The more horselower the better... as long as you can use it off of the line. With 12X8X21 or 22's, the tire rollout ( outside diameter of tire) is 71 or 72 inches. I use 13 tooth front sprocket with these tires. I have a problem with bringing up the front end on the launch. I just installed a front and rear lowering kit. Makes a world of difference in keeping the front end down. 65 for front and 88 for rear adjustable link. www.crjperformance.com is where I got kit. Air pressure makes a difference too. Depends on sand. 7 or 8 lbs. for less traction, 4 to 5 lbs. for more bite. A good exhaust helps power. A high compression piston helps low end torque and doesn't hurt top end. HRC or stage 2 Hotcam will help it on top. Good luck.

Save as much as weight as you want, but still keep the functions you want..Run a 13/40 for flats and 13/42 for hillshooting, run 22x11x8 8 paddle haulers. Motor motor motor..Big lift cam, HC piston, port work, Sparks BC, FCR carb, CRF ign., springs, OS Ex. valves, valve job, push the guides down.

This bike is a 480 that we did and it has the mods above. It flat *** moves.

i have a stock setup for gearing but im just now starting to mess a round with different gears, I have the HRC kit installed and I have a Full system LRD pro 4 Series and I run sand Geckos for paddles my top end is killer but with the 14 tooth on the front gear there is just not enough launch for me but if the drag length is anywhere near or past 400 ft I am gonna pass right on by you...... So lets race:D Here is a pic of me racing at silverlake in Michigan im the on the red R with black and blue riding gear the guy on the far end had the ESR 480 kit with a white bros slip on and he was un Goddly fast

I've personally used the yoshi for sand dragging and loved it! I don't play around with gears so I have no advice there, listen to r3concepts he knows his stuff. With my yoshi and hrc cam I never really needed to shift out of third gear on up hell races and it pulled hard as hell!

FYI the ESR 480 is about as weak as 480 you can build.:D

Most well built stock bores will wax the ESR 480.
