So I would love to get a new quad (old one got pretty chared when my house burned down!) but the thing is. I am moving into a apartment in Austin within a few months. I could just leave it at my parents house in Houston (150+ miles away) but I dont think I could pay so much for something just to ride maybe 2 times a month max. Does anyone live in a apartment here and have a quad? I dont think I can afford a storage building. Any other suggestions? I know if it was a dirtbike (blasphemy...I know I know:D ) I could just keep the thing in my room if I lived on the first floor. I dont think a door is wide enough for a quad though. Maybe I will just rob a bank and buy a house in Austin....

Some apartments have a garage. I'd go that route unless you want a yard. Then check out some rent houses.

That or pretend to be handicapped and ask for a wider front door! ;)

if they don't have wide front doors, make it wide.:D yeah i would check into garages, or store it at a friends house if you could.

Used to cut 1" bolts at work. Handles were prolly 3' long. It would slice through those locks like melted butter.

Seriously, not a great idea.

I've seen a few door designs that you couldn't get the bolt cutters on. I guess you could rig a trailer with something similar but with most the lock is pretty vulnerable.

I dont know. I have been thinking a bit about it and I am probably going to just get a xr650 and make it steet legal (really easy to do in Texas). That way I can ride it around the city and on the trails too. Save alot of gas. I can rig up some kind of alarm system so if someone tries to steal it a loud alarm will go off and scare them away or allow me to hear it uick enough to go out and give them the brass.

Why not just a XR650L?

Well I would if I lived in California or something. In Texas you dont even need blinkers. Just a horn/hi/low beam headlights/brake light/side view mirrors. The 650L really isnt nearly as good as the regular 650. They made it really "streetable". The forks (I think) are different and I know the fenders are different. If I dont need the weight of all of the crap they put on the dual sport then whats the point? The 650 seems to have better off road characteristics. I can find a older 650 for under 2 grand. Like I said, if I lived in a place where they would give me trouble when getting it tagged I wouldnt be bother and I would get the 650L.

I might get some different wheels for the 650 too. supermotard style!
