If a 300EX is just a bored out 250X, how much slower would a 250 be than a 300. And with my megamax II exhaust and k&N filter, can i keep up with a Raptor 350 of do i need more, if so what?

the 250x goes around 50 and a 350 raptor goes around 58

Actually the bore on the 300 and 250 are identical. The 300ex is just stroked a little bit.

There really isn't any difference between the two. The 300ex has a tiny bit more torque, and e-start. THe 250x rev's a little faster and has a kick start.

They will both loose to the Raptor 350 after about 100ft because you're hitting the ultra low rev limit of the 300ex/250x whereas the 350's dont have a rev limiter (warriors anyway, not sure about the newer ones).

The 350 will always be a little faster in a straight line.. but IMHO (and jsut my opinion), the ex's have a little better geometry for the woods. But the Blaster, 300ex, Warrior are all pretty equal across the full spectrum of strengths and weaknesses.

To beat a 350 raptor, you can do a couple things pretty cheap.
1) High Comp 11:1 piston (Stock bore)
2) Stage2 Hotcam
3) CDI mod for higher rev limit.

Next step is porting, polishing, valve jobs, better pipe, etc.. but you'll get some decent gains just from those top 3.

if u get a rev box get a white bros high rev box

Will the high rev box hurt your motor any by giving it a higher red line. What is the rev limmiter actualy set at on a stock 300ex how many rpm. can it float the valves with the higher revs and how many extra rpm do you get with the rev box?

Does a stock 250X beat a 300ex in a sraight line drag

a raptor 350 stock will go 61-62mph and no the raptor 350 does not have a rev limiter

the 300ex will prolly beat a 250x cuse the more fact the 250x has a 246 bore and a 300ex a 281 bore. the 250x is prolly lighter and rea=v faster but the 300ex will prolly take it over all.

I ride with several people that have 250x and 300ex, just a 250x with a pipe beats the 300ex's that have pipes by a couple bike lengths every time, and its not the rider because they swap bikes and 250x still wins. As for the 350 raptor/glorified warrior just in a straight up drag race it never caught up to the 250x and 300ex's till they were topped out and he passed them. But they were running up the road so I wasn't to impressed with it. But the 350 was completley stock. You can ask most honda people including dealers and they will tell you the 250x was/is a better running machine than the 300ex, and not sure why they ever changed to the 300ex. Because just the early 250x's had kickstart and the later ones had electric. I used to have an 87' with the kicker, it was just bored. .030 with a whitebros. all around cam and some headwork and it was the best trail bike I ever had, and used to race it in the Sport class in GNCC back when they actually had a good one with 25-30 riders in every race 3-4 years ago. Sorry for all the rambling on and on, but the 250x is a bada** machine:D

the 250x and 300ex are the exact same machine. . . same cc size, engine, plastic, frame EVERYTHING. the only difference in them is the years and the kick start on the 250x's. look up the specs for both machines and youll find that they are very similar..

If they were the same machine, their specs would be exactly the same and not just similar  I owned both and there are several internal engine differences

They are the same.. except the 300ex had it's crank replaced with one that has a 4.5mm longer stroke, and a few other related changes.

Replaced the kicker with an e-start.

And gave it bold new graphics....

;) Other than that just a few tiny standard model year changes.

You might want to double check those specs yourself.

The 250x is a great little machine. If you do a lot of trail riding and once and a while get to ride on a track you can do all the things that the bigger atv do. I would say that two of the things that make the 250 faster is the compression ratio and weight. I think the clymer manual states that the 250 is higher (9.5 to 1 vs 8.5 for the 300) and no heavy battery and starter to lug around. I am probably off on the compression ratio but it something like that. I know a longer stoke = more torgue but the flip side is that it takes longer to fill the cylinder with gas and air ( this is only milliseconds of time) but if that means you get to the power band first well you get the point.
