hey, one day while riding i went low on oil. i noticed this when i sarted to hear a clikin, not aknock, in my head. my dad told me that ,most likley i scored the cyclinder, i am gnna bore it outmost likely then. my shop ca do a bore and hone for $52, plus the cost of parts. if ibore i know i am gona have get a anew piston and rings, i will probly get one ofthose wiseco piston kits. so my first qeustioon is: will i need a gasket set? and is there any other internlwor i should get done while doing this? also anyother helpfull info will be greatly appreciated:confused: :confused:

have a 99 300ex nutin muc now, just fmf megamax silencer and 400ex stock rears

Yes, you will need a whole set of gaskets. Oh and uh, get some razor blades to scrap off the ole gasket pieces when you take the motor apart too. good luck man!!

Yep!!! you need gaskets. Compare individual prices to the top end kit, I think the kit is a bit cheaper. After the shop is done with the cylinder be sure to run scotch brite in the cylinder, and then wash it throughly with hot water and soap. Be sure to set the ring gap alot of shops don't do it for you. :cool:

if you go to CTracing.com , they have a whole page dedicated to the putting together and breaking in of your motor. its good stuff , you should read it

did you have your valves adjusted? when the valves get out of whack enough they knock

if you are boring it, then moto-man.com has a piston kit with gaskets and all other hardware for 104.99.

I would check your vavles first before you do a unneccesary bore and hone. Your vavles will knock if they need adjusted or went bad. I doubt you need a rebuild.
