416's are more reliable and rev faster then the 440's. For more low end a shorty pipe, 18 inch tires or a dropped tooth on the sprockets, cam, ect. Cost depends on what all you buy. You will need a gasket kit, piston and rings, cylinder bored, if your upgrading you should look into a cam, getting the head ported, a crf cam chain which is HD, among other things, so cost is up to you really. Good luck.

The 416 produces good rev and good speed for very little cash. The 440 produces good rev, good speed and even better torque for about 3 times as much. I have the 440, and mine does better than 416s. If you need torque, the 440 will stomp on a 416. If you need speed, the 416 is hard to beat for the money.
