View Full Version : need help removing swingarm axle housing

i need a step by step instructions for removing the axle housing on the swing arm. if anyone can help please reply thanks drewh716@AOL.COM

-Hold the rear brake pedal and loosen the axle nut (the two jam nuts)
-Remove both rear tires/wheels. (only have to remove right one, but it is easier with both removed)
-Remove the brake caliper(2 12mm bolts)
-Leave brake line attached
-Thread the axle nut back to the left to reveal a small C-clip
-Small screwdriver or snap-ring pliers to remove the C-clip
-Slide the axle nuts off the axle to the right
-Slide the rotor and rotor holder off the axle to the right
-You will see a large snap-ring, remove it
-Remove caliper holder (that big snap-ring was holing this on)
-Loosen the bolts that pinch the back of the swingarm
-If you have a stock chain, turn the carrier to loosen the chain so you can slip the chain off to the right of the sprocket (stock chains dont have master links)
-Slide the axle out
--And that's it.

Now the fun part is getting the axle bearings out of the carrier. I assume that is what you are doing.
