I'm using Silkolen 32:1 with 110 octane fuel. I think i'm paying 6 bucks for a quart.I use to use Maxima 926 which is a castor/bean oil which gives super protection but if your quad sits too much like mine ,they tell me the fuel/oil mixture seperates even in the float bowl which may be a problem so I stopped using it. My dealer recommends Silkolen for 2 strokes but personally I believe all the higher end oils are fine.

would it be ok to riun amsoil at 32:1? will this just foul the plug or will it be ok? i used to run maxima 927 at 32:1 but i didnt like it that much. i just dont think that 50:1 will be enough lubricant.

I've read and have been told that 32:1 is the best for crank life, and if tuned right can make more power than mixed 50:1, as more oil makes a better seal on the rings=more compression. One article said that 16:1 made the best power on a yz250, but had to run wide open and it still fouled plugs, according to their dyno, 16:1 made the most power, 20:1 second(still problems with fouling plugs), 32:1 best for spark plug life and compromise on power, 50:1 less compression, and 100:1 least compression.

well w/e oil i run it is going to be 32:1 so im guessing that amsoil 32:1 will be the best. Also what is the exact name of the amsoil?

When I ran Benol in my R @ 32:1 I was fouling plugs every 10 laps around the track. Switched to Motul @ 32:1 and didn't foul one until I sold it. IMO Klotz SUCKS.

i will only run klotz in any of my bike from now on. with mixture ratio it just depends on you compression , air temp/ humidity. there no real set amount. klotz is alittle expensive but i had it in my bike which was running extremely lean a few years back when i was riding in the snow and it held the bike together almost till i got back home until it locked up. but that was my dumb fault for not rejetting and moving the needle clip

Klotz
Amsoil

All the higher end oils, I've run them from 32:1 to 50:1. The only one I might have had issues with was Klotz when I stuck a ring. But I'm not sure it was the oil as could have been my install.

The gas oil ratio has nothing to do with compression, air temp/humidity! Your air/fuel mixture is effected by air temp/humidity. It depends on your manufacturer suggestions and the brand of oil you run! If you truely want to be on the safe side I would go with what the manufacturer suggest.

the manufacturer(honda in this case) suggests 20:1 if you run that ratio it will foul plugs like no other. so what would some peoples reasoning be for running 32:1 50:1 and i have even heard of some people running 90-100:1

dang, 100:1 is nuts, thats real lean

im not sure what im ganna run in my 250r, im ganna see what he ran in it and run that

I ran my dirt bike at 100-1 for years. and i use to run my r at 100-1 but i leaned it out to 50-1, dunno why just feel more safe running it 50-1. but at 100-1 you still get a nice coat of oil to lube it up, but thats imo. but i dont care what anybody says i love my ams-oil its good ****. ams-oil for life!

Keep in mind that when you lean out your oil mixture, your air/fuel mixture actually becomes richer, which will produce a cooler burn. You may still be safe. If you lean out your oil mix, then follow it up with a leaner jet in the carb, be careful.:)

i used to run my r between 32:1 and 40:1 seemed to be the best for it. i never had the testi's to run any leaner for fear of seizing

250r4life

no wonder why some of you guys keep seizing up your motor or blowing up your piston... man, i run yamalube 32:1 and my bike was original piston/cylinder until this year, and i took it off out of choice not cuz of problems... keep your filter clean, run good gas and mix it at 32:1, and your bike will run forever... and my bike is by no means slow- aint too many Rs (or others period) that will beat me... just run 32:1, yah, you can probably easily get away with a lot leaner, but there is a lot more margin for error at 32:1 and i would rather be safe than sorry...
