Possibly stupid question

ok I'm cutting up my front fenders soon and I have a possible problem. There are four brackets holding up the front of the plastics, two are like really thick metal wires (this is a TRX400EX by the way) and I was wondering if it's possible to cut enough plastic away so that those wire brackets can be removed, I don't know cause these are the first plastics I'll ever cut.

they are there to hold the big goofy stock plastic in place... if your fenders can support themselves after you cut them, you dont need them.
