i am lookin to race a quad and because i am only 14 i cant race my 450r. I wanted to start racing but dont really no the rules and regulations to the 14-16 age level class. i could get a 2002-2005 blaster or 300ex. i wasnt sure if your still allowed to run 250rs or not. i plan on redoing everything but i dont no the maxium engine size i could run. please let me no what i should do thanks for the time and help.

just wait another year and just tell them your 15. I doubt they are going to ask you for your birth certificate. My friend whos 14 is 5'7 175 and he has been passin as a 16 y/o for about 3 races now. I could pass but I want to stay in my class till I actually turn 16.

Definetly go with a 300ex over a blaster for nationals. All the top riders in the youth production class are running 300's. If your looking for a good MX racer, mines forsale. PM me and well talk.

yes go with the 300ex you cant beat the reliability of them and they do have more power than a blaster.you can also open up a 300ex more with aftermarket parts than a blaster.go with a honda 4 stroke!

300ex will beat the blaster in the youth production

you set up a blaster the right way for MX or whatever racing your doing i think it will beat 300ex's...like fasterblaster said....reliablility but if you race you are most likely going to change internals(pistons,crank,bore...) So all that reliability goes out the window...just like 400ex's....reliable as all hell....but people tell me once they are a full 440....that reliability goes out the window...but ne way i think blasters would be better. Of course everyone on here is going to say the 300ex....looks at the name of the site(exriders).

Here's one way to look at it. They're both going to work for whatever you set them up to do. They're both prolly going to cost a bit to get set up to be competitive. However, if I were in the postion of having to choose one to race, I would choose the 300. Not because I own one, or I am biased.

Reason being, is that the 2 stroke engine on the Blaster will require more work to maintain than the 300's 4 stroke engine. The 2 stroke would need to be rebuilt more frequently to keep it in top shape, especially in racing conditions. You'd prolly be able to squeeze more power out of the Blaster's engine, but the 300 is going to have a more useable powerband. Not to mention you'll prolly need to have premixed gas ready to go for every race if you were using the Blaster(I know it's not that hard to mix gas, but it's still a pain in the *** to do at the last minute).

Anyways, I'm sure there will be people disagree with me on all of that, but that's just my 2 cents as far as which one I'd choose and why.

Since you have a 450R, I'd say a 300ex serves your best interests... The riding style for a 2 cycle engine is a radical departure from what you are used to and probably will be going back to when your old enough... Besides in a pinch, things like rotors, wheels and a few other parts can be swaped off your 450R.
