I am looking to get a new truck and I am torn between two. Dodge 2500 cummins crew and a Chevy 1500 z-71 crew. I am not pulling anything large like a trailer or anything. For those of you who have a cummins, how does it treat you in the winter time? My dad is concerned about fuel gelling and the hassle of plugging them in. Both of them will be similiar in price due to the discounts and special rebates I have. Give me your input and help me make a decision. Thanks:)

are you guys even trying to compare a dodge diesel to a chevy gas burner?

do you want 14mpg (chevy gasser) or 18mpg (dodge diesel). i would say go with the diesel if you can afford it, especially when diesel used to be cheaper than gas - now its about the same.

Are both trucks the same as far as crewcabs, 4x4's, autos, and similar interior options? If so, either the Dodge price is dirt cheap or the Chevy price is high. There shold be a few thousand dollars between the two. If you want a good ride, good fuel mileage(5.3 not the 6.0) and a truck that is "comfortable" on the inside, go with the Chevy. I am not a big dodge fan (have owned my share of them also) but I do know that you cant beat the Cummins. Being a 3/4 ton it will ride quite abit rougher. You really need to be pulling something at least 50% of the time to justify a 3/4ton deisel. Otherwise get the 1/2ton gasser.

I agree with what 416exmx said.

If your not gonna be hauling stuff, let alone something heavy that you could see an advantage of a diesel, I would say get the gasser. There's really no point to get a truck that big unless you haul regularly.
