Let me tell you, this thing is a torque monster. power wheelies in 4th and 5th without you wanting to.

wiseco 440 kit
hot rods +4mm stroker crank
je 13:1 stroker piston
mx grind cam
black diamond valves with +1mm intakes
full race port and polish
msd ignition
450r carb

gut feeling is that it would be a close race with a correctly piped and jetted yfz or 450r.

now that the motor work is done, time for chassis work to begin

I'll get some pics as soon as he cleans it up.

wut kinda riding will he do with it?

i say, +6 swingarm, wheelie bar, and go smoke some 450's

Now which kit is more realiable, 429 or 440?
I'm lookin into doing one of those soon, just not sure which one!

you mean a 426?...personally i like my 416, but i have never driving a 440, but my buddy has a 426 and feels sluggish

after searching arouund this site for a while you will see there is so many different mod combinations for 416's, 426's and 440's that it will come down to personal preference and how much $cash$ you have to spend and what type of riding you do. Try to find some EX's modded up that you can ride and see which you like best.

I had the chance to ride a 465, 426, 440, and a 416ex. My buddy ownes one of each except the 440. And i also owned a stock 400ex. Now i must say i was most impressed with the 426. All bikes at the same comp ratio, same cams and all using sparks exhaust on race gas mix. THe 426 just felt so much better all around, and even with the +1.5 swinger it was a wheelie monster. The 416 is a mod that i would do if your a woods only/trail rider. The 440 is worthless IMO, i didnt feel a significant difference over the 440 than the 426 for that matter.

So for me im going either 426 or 416 but on pump gas.

he built it for trail, but this winter he i gonna turn it into an MXer. It is quick. He is pulling 16 tooth gearing on the front and i have stock. He can still get me off the line and stay ahead in a drag. in 300feet he passed me in a wheelie and still one by about 1quad length. when he held the front down he won by about 3 lengths. his is a 440 with a 4mm longer stroke, 13:1. It runns on straight 110. this winter he plans on going long travel, extended swinger, wider and lower. righ now it does 4th gear power wheelies without trying. 1st through 3rd it is nearly impossible to keep the front down when accelerating hard.
