Man,

My stock frame is rusting at all the welds - even on the A arms. Anyone got any bright ideas to take care of this. (this quad is not ridden in the mud) I was thinking of stripping it down & having the frame powder coated, but that seems like such a major undertaking...

thanks ~ Hawk

EVERY TIME YOU CLEAN IT SPRAY W/D 40 ON THE WHOLE BIKE...IT SHOULD STOP THE RUST.

I've got a few welds with some light rust, mostly where paint did not get good coverage. Good ole WD- 40 keeps it in check. Do you mean that ALL of your welds are rusting? Post a Pic

If its just surface rust theres nothing to worry about, if it gets deeper your in trouble

It is just surface rust & it's on every it's on the welds by the footpegs, every undercarriage weld & on the a-arm welds, more of an eyesore than anything, it's just irritating that the bike is only 2 yrs old... I will try the WD-40 thing

Yeah mines got rust on it too. In some places, like on the left side of my frame, I sanded the rust off and plan to sust give it a little shot of gray primer. Like everyone else says I just spray WD-40 on it.

In my opinion the best thing to do is eventually get it powdercoated (i plan to this winter) so that way it will look nice and stop the rust from damaging the frame any more.

is it just bad coverage when they painted it? or are the welds flexing? mine is the worst around the foot pegs and the ball joint mount on the a arms.

Just try to find some paint that matches the frame and spray it on. The welds probly dont get much wear so regular spray paint should stay on for a long time and keep that rust ayway.

I'm paintin my frame black next winter so all my rust will be gone

Thanks for all the comments guys! In response to one of the members, I don't think that my frame is flexing - just appears to be shoddy painting. I was wondering if I was the only one. If I am brave enough, I might go for a powder coat this winter if I get my barn completed.

Happy riding ~ Hawk

Mine is doing that too and mine is a 2002. I`m not happy about it, but I just Spray it with Contact Cleaner or WD-40. It works. I also want to Powdercoat mine, but I need other Stuff much worse and don`t have the Money for Powdercoating.

Mine has that surface rust too. I'm just planning on tearing it down this winter and powder coating it a nice red.

TheChknhwk,
and the 40 is because it was the 40th formula they tried. In case you didn't already know.:D
