I replaced my spark plug today with a NGK dpr8z just as the owners manual says and when i took it out for a test spin it would stall when the engine would come to an idle after reving or accelerating. no matter what i did it would shut off as soon as it went back to idle from a rev. I replaced the plug with the old one and it ran great. The plugs were different, the new one seemed to be much longer:confused: Why wouldnt my machine run properly with the recomened spark plug. Im really confused right now.

Also the machine is BONE stock..

is your plug gaped correctly? it will do this if you forgot to gap it....also if i am not mistaken that is the colder plug? correct me if im wrong, but try putting a hotter plug in

no the NGK dpr8z is the hotter of the 2 recomended spark plugs. When i compared the old plug with the new one the old one was a quarter inch shorter!! I gapped the plug before i put it in too.. Thanks for the help though..

i run dpr8z's in mine all the time. its what there called for... um.. run it like you say and let it do its thing, then pull the plug out and if its wet and smells like gas... its most likly a spark problem.. if its dry its a fuel problem... mine just did somthing like yours ,,, i found out it had no spark, so i cleaned all my connections.. then still no spark.. so then i took stator out and cleaned iff the ends of it with sandpaper... put it back in and its fine now.. some how my stator got **** on it and wouldn't throw spark... hope this helps some,, i'll check back here again and see where your at.. good luck -Ethan

Hey guys, thanks for all the help..

Well i brought it up to my land and it ran pretty bad with the dpr8z in it so i took it out and ran the old plug.. I forgot the plug number, NGK Da7e or something.. and it ran beautiful all weekend. My best guess is the guy before tuned the carb to run with a hotter spark and its drowning the cooler dpr8z.

I am just gonna stick with the plug model thats in there and when I get into the carb to clean it and jet it i'll mess with the plugs then..

Once again thanks for all the help..
