After a very short break of only two weeks, here we are back at Glen Helen for round 7 of the ITP Quadcross series. Once again turnout is lower than usual. Only fourteen Pro riders are here today. The top three are only seperated by a total of 16 points.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 12:57 PM
Here Dana Creech, ready's for moto 1. Dana is the current points leader for the series after taking over the lead by winning round 4 and increasing his lead with a win in round 5. Although he has lost a little ground in round 6 with a third...

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:01 PM
Dustin Nelson is currently in third after an up and down season. He always seems to be running up front and something happens..He did win the last round #6. Maybe his luck is changing?

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:05 PM
Jeremy Schell, your two time ITP Quadcross Champion, warms up his tire just before the gate drops for moto 1. Jeremy is sitting in the #2 spot only seven points behind Creech and 9 points ahead of Nelson. Talk about pressure.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:10 PM
Mike Machado #61 has had a pretty consistent year. He is sitting in fourth only 16 points out of third..He says he been training and riding more and it shows in his racing..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:14 PM
And the gate drops... and round 7 is under way.. Everyone came off the gate so well it was hard to see who was leading untill.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:17 PM
they actually got to the Taladega turn. This corner can hut you bad if you don't respect it. You can see Schell with the blank blue plate just edging out Nelson who went low inside and Eichner who went a little higher..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:21 PM
As they come out of the turn you can see the advantage the line Schell and Eichner took. It allows you you start powering out of the turn sooner and pulling away quicker. Eichner powers right past Nelson for the second spot.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:23 PM
Dana doesn't get as good a start and is back around the fifth spot behind Mike Machado #61

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:25 PM
At the third corner you can see the different lines..Schell #14 takes the inside along with Eichner #11. Nelson #94 goes to the outside..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:27 PM
A little bit wider view of the same corner as you can see that Creech took the outside as well

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:34 PM
As they come back through you can just barely see Schell behind Kevin Avina from Avina Prep, in the black shirt. The lineup has stayed the same except Dana has moved up to fourth behind Nelson.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:37 PM
As they round the Taladega turn you can see the lead from first to second has grown just a little. As has second to third..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:39 PM
Schell on the power as he prepares to head up the hill.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:43 PM
#61 of Mike Machado running in the fifth spot just behind Dana Creech. Mike ran a good strong first moto.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:48 PM
Tony Munio #66 and Darrell Patton#35 are running in eighth and ninth. Patton is currently in fifth in the season points standings and Munio is in eighth.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:53 PM
This corner you can see Schell at the bottom. Dana has moved around Nelson and into third.

WestCoast Editor

The next couple photos shows the gap between positions..

This is first to second..

WestCoast Editor

Second to third...

WestCoast Editor

Third to fourth..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 01:58 PM
Nelson tries to put some pressure on Creech..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:02 PM
Danny Ragan #5 who had some bad luck last round with some mechanical problems is running eleventh.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:05 PM
Once again a shot of the top 4. This is pretty much how things went untill the last couple laps. When...

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:13 PM
As Nelson goes into this corner, something gets in his drive-train and causes the rear to lock and stall. He slides up on the berm and has a problem getting it going again dropping him back several spots. And were not done yet. Then...

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:21 PM
Doug Eichner who was running in second tries to pass Schell on the last lap. When he puts his front end next to Schell, Schell closes the door leaving Eichner no where to go and the end result was what you see. This dropped him all the way back to 12th.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:26 PM
Schell goes on to take the checkers for round 1. Dana Creech moves up after Eichners mishap, finishing second.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:27 PM
Mike Machado #61 had a good first moto getting third.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:33 PM
Dana gets ready for moto 2. Dana had to run his practice quad in the second moto because when he came off the track earlier his race bike stopped running. It appeared to have seized up.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:35 PM
The gate drops on moto 2... The next are a series of shots from the start...

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:36 PM
and then..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:37 PM
and then you can start to see a little seperation..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:40 PM
You can see Jeremy right up front and next to him on the inside is Logan Holiday. Nelson is right there also!

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:42 PM
It's Schell and Nelson over the table..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:47 PM
Once again you can barely see Schell as he leads every throught the corner. Nelson is in second, Holiday third, Eichner fourth, Machado fifth, Patton sixth and Ragan seventh. No creech?

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:49 PM
At first I thought Dana just got a bad start, Come to find out him and #66 Munio tangled in the second corner dropping them both way back.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:51 PM
Schell leading Nelson around the Taladega turn.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:54 PM
Nelson goes around Schell for the lead. After the race Schell said he new Nelson finished back a few spots so he didn't want to take a chance of them tangling so he let him take the lead.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:56 PM
Logan Holiday was having a good run in the third spot.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 02:58 PM
Dana went to work quick and started moving up. Within a couple laps he was up to fifth.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:01 PM
Dustin was out front and crusing with a clean track ahead. Needless to say as long as something doesn't break he has this moto in the bag!

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:03 PM
Jeremy knew second was plenty to take the overall for the day so he put it on cruise control and rode his own race.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:05 PM
Doug Eichner was still running in fourth, right behind Logan Holiday in third..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:09 PM
Dana taking a look back to see who on his tail. Dana had moved up to fifth and was starting to reel in Eichner..

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:11 PM
Here's the guy Dana was keeping his eye on.. Mike Machado in the sixth spot was hanging right there with Creech.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:13 PM
Dana tried several times to get around Eichner but just could never quite get it done.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:18 PM
I threw this in just because... It's a shot of Creech once again trying to get around Eichner as they get to the top of Mt. St. Helen.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:22 PM
Logan Holiday still holding down the third spot with Eichner and Creech right there in the rear view mirror. For a new young rider like Holiday if you want to get there respect you go out and beat them! He is doing very well in the Pro class for his first year.

WestCoast Editor

Here's a good shot of Jeremy Schell's new Golden West / Epic graphics. If you want a set of your own you can contact Golden West Cycles...

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:36 PM
Dustin went on to finish first and with his 5-1 he took second for the day....

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:38 PM
Logan Holiday took third in the second moto and with an 8-3 finished fifth for the day.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:42 PM
Eichner had some bad luck in the first but did well in the second getting fourth. unfortunately a 12-4 put him eighth for the day.

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 03:49 PM
Dana finished fifth, getting third for the day after a 2-5

WestCoast Editor
08-19-2005, 04:01 PM
And your winner for round 7 with a 1-2 finish...

Jeremy Schell...
Jeremy is now only 2 points behind Dana Creech. This series is going to be close. The next round is in Arizona. Yes I said Arizona!

Did Dana get protested at all?
I know in the GNC's you can't switch from one bike to the next in the second moto.
He would have had to switch motors instead of bikes.
Just a thought!

According to Jeremy he is staying put. His sponsors want him here.

I asked him that same question after the race.

He will probaly run the Glen Helen National

Davids440ex
08-23-2005, 11:28 PM

bud14

doug's bike isnt a 450 its the same engine i belive he runs for thw worcs

400grl
08-25-2005, 04:54 PM
Pretty much the only person who still has a stock engine in that class is my husband......I'm pretty sure most of the Pro racers out there have their engine worked at least a little bit..........there might be one or two stock engines in the pack still, but not many. Doug's is definately NOT stock!! LOL!!! It's in the 500's I think.....at least that's what I have heard.

Davids440ex

jeremy's has got to be up there to his bike has so much power, your from arizona, what hotels are close to speed world?, i have a 760 miles drive , i have drove by it once with nic granlund but that was in the middle of the night and didnt see much

Yamahauler_04
08-25-2005, 09:29 PM
The biggest motor Duncan makes for the TRX is a 470. They are testing a 510 (I think), but it's not done yet.

bud14
08-25-2005, 09:39 PM
no doug has a mx bike that only is 450, dustin nelson also runs a stock motor.

400grl
08-26-2005, 10:53 AM
The bike I heard at Glen Helen that Doug came off the track with was no 450.....no way......!!! And if you've seen the holeshots, no one in the top 6 or 7 has a stock engine......the stock engines are in the back on Taledega!!!

Hey!!! You are in luck - there is brand new hotel that they just built like 2 miles from the track!! I think it's a new Hampton Inn.......it's off of Grand where the 303 runs into Grand. Plus there are a ton of places to eat just miles from SW.......Applebees, Taco Bell, Pizza places, Fazzoli's, Denny's.....plus tons of other stores, etc........

no doug's bike is there 450 motor i ask him. and i know dustins motor is stock cuz i am on SRF Racings team with him.

Yamahauler_04
08-26-2005, 12:12 PM
In no way did I say that Doug's engine is stock. I doubt any of those guys are near it.

Just not over 450 cc's of displacement.

There's a lot of room for improvement in the Honda without even going big bore.

Ah.....can't argue with that!!! :) ;) Then Dustin must be magic on the holeshots because he's hanging with the worked motors with no problems!! :macho

nelsons motor is stock all they did was retard the cam to the dirt bike timing that is.

khj
08-26-2005, 09:31 PM
Jeremy's motor is less than 450cc
It is a Sparks motor so yes it has a ton of horsepower
No way a stock motor will run next to a Sparks motor going into the Talladega turn !!!

400grl
08-26-2005, 11:04 PM
That's why I figured Dustin had a worked motor, too - Jason's motor is butt stock, and even with a great start, he's still lagging going into Taledega compared to 80% of the pack......that's just horsepower issues.......plain and simple. That's alot of motorwork out there in the Pro class...... ;)

bud14
08-27-2005, 02:29 AM
Ask SRF Racing at the AZ round of the ITP his motor is stock just has a retared cam

Good question!!

when you change something in the motor that didnt come stock when you bought it from the show room floor. that what i think a modifide motor is to me.

nice report the pics were awesome down home our pro class is open pro cause in atlantic canada we only have 2 classes due to the amount of entries we get, but only few people run anything over 450 myself i run a 300ex against 400s and 450s which is quite the battle but i still do good
