well i bought a 250R to rebuilt the engine on and ride but its turning into a full out tear down and rebuilt here is what i found out on the stem today
no wonder it wouldnt tighten up

looks to me like the threads are stripped....yes its repairable...your just gonna have to get a tap&dye set and fix it

going tom to see if the machine shop can weld it back up and make the stock size

whats broken and needs to be welded...it looks to me like the threads are stripped

I would say he means weld the shaft diameter back up so the original thread size can be re-tapped onto the shaft

Is that a Houser stem? I had the same problem with mine if it is. I cut the part with the threads off and drilled and taped it for a 8mm bolt.

That's what I had done to mine at a machine shop... Made it just like new.:cool:

i just found out their is a half inch missing off the threads

while your getting it welded just have them add some round stock to it, or just cut it all off and and weld a bolt or piece of all thread to it

I noticed there was little threads on the end of it but didn't want to piss on your parade even more....:o
