uni air lid off bad or good on 400

ii have a 04 400ex and all i ahve on it is a uni air filter and my body who has a 440 has a kn air filter and so that guy that bored his out took off his lid so he can get mor air flow and i thought about it and i tried it to mine and it seems like it doesnt want to take off as fast think or thats what i think it feels like so any of u want to help me out it would be great if all u guys did

if you take off the air box lid, you are going to need to rejet your carb;)
