E-Series, 360 degree heat sheild

Our ride last weekend was in a bunch of mud and wet clay, the result was a partially plugged White Bros E-Series, I am running 6 discs currently to keep the noise down. My question is, do the heat sheilds that you can buy for the E-series protect the discs from all the mud that gets thrown around when we spin down the muddy trails??

Congrats on your clogged disk, I have the same problem from time to time.

Im pretty sure the shields are for protecting the plastic from heat. I dont think they could serve anyother purpose.
