yeah proablly something big cause im probally gonna get a trx450 and my other friends are getting kfx400s. I know they will handle alot better than the 4x4 but a bigger one like the 660 would do a better job of keeping up

Yeah the brute force 750 is a beast they have it on sale at our local dealer its cheaper than a grizzly 660

the kawasaki praire 700 would stand a better chance at keeping up with the sport quads. the brute force has a little more power, but the praire out handles it hands down.

from what you are describing, a 500 HO Polaris Sportsman would work pretty good... offering a great ride, & the ability to putt around all day with out getting hot... it would be lacking a little in the racing around catagory, if he was wanting something a little quicker, the 660 Griz, or the 700 Prairie would be my choices... I personally love the Prairies, & think they are the perfect machine ( for me ), but I'm not really too fond of the IRS machines, & am willing to give up some ride comfort for the more sporty handling of the SRA machines... seems like both the Griz & the Prairies have a little less ability to stay cool, especially true if the radiators are partially plugged, & putting around, than the the Polaris's... BTW... the new 800 Bomb, is suposed to handle like an SRA quad but still has IRS, & the biggest fastest ( stock ) motor in a utility quad so far...

i agree with what was said about the wolverine, may not be as fast as kfx or 450r, but they are quick for a 4x4 ute. if price is an issue i would definently get the wolv

get a foreman400 or 450 because they don't drowned out as much as a grizzly and foremans dont have belts 2 get wet and slip

IMO, the Grizzly 660 is hard to beat, as it has been out for a good while now, and has gotten all of the bugs worked out. And, they ride awesome. I rode a friend of mine's Grizzly across a fairly rough field with alot of angled (Approx 45 degree) ruts that normally jar a solid axle quad, and the grizzly made the ride soooo smooth it was unreal! Could hit them 45- 50 MPH with ease!

i would say look into the vinson, king quad, or Prarie..all sporty, fast and reliable, great handling machines. If you want something with a SRA then look into the vinson or teh prarie but if you want IRS id say look into the KQ. just my opinion..becasue im looking into what i shoudl get in spring 06..2006 Grizz 660 or KQ 700??..im still not sure lol

yea scrambler 500 or 400. They're fast, they do great in the mud. I've made it through stuff grizzleys were gettin stuck in. they have some pretty goo dpower for having fun. auto tranny works good.

Where quads go depends a lot on the rider. I have never been outdone by a Polaris or any other brand, but I compete as well so I actually know how to ride.

You can take a good rider and slap him on a 300 Honda and he can sometimes outride a guy on a grizz that doesn't know what he's doing.

60% bike and 40% driver is what I say.

Another thing to look for is ease to work on when needed. I don't see the Honda Utes fairing well in this catagory. The longitudally mounted engine/ tranny looks like a pain in the butt to work on. Any the Hydro trannies are even worse.
Now it is too soon to tell yet, but the new crop of EFI machines may be a little difficult as well. If I work on a machine not getting fuel, I can tear the carb off, and see what is wrong if anything. With EFI.....Did anyone bring their Laptop?  Sure you got injectors and such, but few know about the workings enough to repair them.
Belt drives are great, as there are way less gears inside when the cases need split. And belts are fairly simple. (Just have access to a spare just in case)
My next machine will probably be a Kawi Vtwin of some sort, I think.

You are right about that, but I'd say it's much more like 80/20 except in drag racing.:p
