My friend offered my 2 kicker 15'' kicker compVR CVR152's, in a box with a kole audio 1920 watt amp. I dont know much about speakers, but he assures me that it is an awesome deal. They have been used but are in cood condition, and he hooked them up so I could hear them. They sound insane :eek2: than again, we stuffed the box in a little S-10. If I do get them, it will be going in the trunk of my 1987 Monte Carlo SS. I dont quite understand how the air movement will transfer from the trunk of my car to the inside (cab) of it and still sound good. Anyway, he offered it ALL to me including him hooking it up for $250. Should I go for it?

Your trunk is going to rattle worse than a tin can full of screws...

yea u better line your car with dynomat. But it will still rattle really bad. I had 4 of those 15's in a s-10 blazer. u talking about loud. But two of them in a car will be plenty, what kind of car?

What kind shape are these subs in? Get some pics up. I've never heard of the amp. If the subs are in good condition and aren't too old, I'd say $250 is reasonable.

The same way you can hear the thumping system in the car next to you. It's difficult to pick out the lyrics, but you definitely hear the thump.

Low-frequency sound waves pass through objects fairly easily, much easier than high-frequency. Not only that, but if you're pushing your tweeters and mids with the deck, you might be pushing as much as 40 watts, but you'll be pushing 200 each through the subs. You have a lot more power.

Plus, it's not like your seats are all that solid, they're not made of lead.

ditto, your car cannot absorb all sounds, you can hear your engine right? and yes i know there are holes in the firewall. it does take a moment to create the low frequencies, its called propogation, which is one reason why people are pointing the subs towards the back of the car. you may want to play with how you point them (down, front, back) to decide how you like them. as for dynamat, it depends if you want to layer it. one thing you may want to try is to use bendable strips of wood, and put them on panels (such as the roof, doors, etc) that do not have a lot of support structure and have a tendency to rattle before you do dynamat. you may want to consider using a product like "brown bread" instead of dynamat since its overpriced in my opinion...

Yes, you should definately point them towards them towards back. I've had several G body cars, the subs sound optimal facing towards the rear of the car.

Trade that amp in on a Memphis, add 100 pounds of Fat Mat, Brown Bread, or Dynamat, and you'll be good to go. :D

You can point them in any direction you want but in a trunk it really wont make a big difference. Its called cancelation, When the trunk is open they will sound good lots of bass but as soon as you shut your trunk you will loose more than half the bass. The air has no where to go so it cancels the bass. The only solution is to cut a whole in the rear deck

You are completely wrong there. It may sound better with the trunk lid open or closed but the direction will make a difference when the lid is closed.

Yea you definatly get alot more bass with the trunk closed.
