I want a pipe that gives me more power... but I can't have it too loud. I was told that a HMF sport series with a silencer core is pretty good... What do you guys think?
Thanks

Get a good exhaust with them discs that u can add for less noise. i think the more discs the quieter it is.

I have a DG pipe with a supertrap end Cap and plates. The bolts keep comming loose on the dam end cap though and I can't get them too stay tight. Has anyone else had this problem? Without the end cap the pipe is as loud as hell I need a way to quiet it down some!

put some loctite on the bolts and they wont come out anymore, also just about every pipe will be loud but by far the least loudest is the pulse charger if your getting a slip on then you should be fine with just about any slip on eccept the pro circiut t-4 and ti-4 they are like 100-102 db's just as a slip on

You just need some lock washers. Split washer that is slightly seperated giving it a spring look. The keeps constant pressure on the bolt.. keeping it from backing out under pressure. You probably don't have them on there.

What kind of quad do you have. If you have a 450r or YFZ there are a lot of "quiet series" pipes out there for them since a lot of the pro circuits require <96db. Other quads are pretty much stuck with the quiet core setups.

On a disk setup.. less disks are quieter and give you more low end torque. More disks are louder and give you more top end HP (increased air flow).

I have a 400ex. Right now I have a stock exhaust with a billet tip. I don't mind a little louder than that, but not too much. How is a HMF quiet core compare to a billet tip? (sound and power wise). Can you give me an example of a Disk exhaust.
Thanks

a disked exhaust would be like a wb e sereis or an fmf mega max, you probably dont want to go that route though, but if you do more disk + louder, i wouldnt get the hmf either if you are consernd about sound, ive heard that the quiet core does nothing but rob power. i recomend you look at the wb e2 or the fmf Q2 or tiQ

On the 400ex the wb e-series produced the most power along with ct. The white brothers is much quieter though. I would go with the white brothers. I don't know what kind of atv you have but with a quiet core the white borthers is 92 db's on the 400.

If you want a real good deep sounding pipe go with a sparks x-6 shorty. It sounds like no other:cool:

you need to get the pulsecharger. great power and a quiet pipe. not cheap though...

yes go with the hmf sport series with a quiet core installed it wont lose much power but quiets it down a lot.

i heard the exact opposite, that it takes away alot of power but it doesnt really make it any queiter

Let's be clear on an issue.

Yes, there are quiet inserts, and quiet core pipes, but in all reality they are not "quiet". They aren't as loud as the regular non-quiet pipes, but they are still much, much louder than stock.

Believe me, you are never going to find a pipe that is "only a little bit louder" than stock.

If you're looking for a compromise between performance and noise, you already have it. The stock pipe.

i just got a Supertrapp IDS - 2 for my 300ex (it uses discs) and i love the sound. It isnt much louder with 8 discs in it. (what I have now) but you can go down to 4. I dont know how quiet it will be but like I said mine with 8 discs isnt that loud.

if you want very good increase in performance with something thats very VERY quiet for the EX, get the LTE duals. I have them, love them, and they last and last and last and last! Stainless steel with hemisperical screen spark arrestor. Thats the ticket - it is not cheap.

My t-4 slipon is only 95 DB's and it sounds really good. It sounds much better than any of the big gun full exhausts on the other 400ex's in the area. Those don't sound real good. there is a dirtwheels shootout somewhere with most of the exhausts in it that tell what the DB's are for the pipes. The t-4 was one of the quieter pipes that's why I bought it. The only ones quieter were the white bros and one or two more. but the T-4 was high in HP at like 4000 RPM's I was looking for the low end. Just my two cents though. Steve
