Thats a nice car, you should get sick paint job done to it. I might be picking up an 80's I-roc camaro soon.

Did you see this 421hp dyno run or is that what the guy was telling you? Does he have receipts for all the internals? I'm only asking because it appears to be a typical small-block Chevy with no special visual parts. It's using stock iron heads and a Performer intake. The header tubes also appear to only be 1-1/2". I'm not trying to rain on your parade but on the surface it appears the 421hp estimate he gave you is a little high. Most guys who build 400+ hp small-blocks don't throw an Earl Scheib paint job on the firewall and get overspray all over the wiring harness (take a look at the master cylinder where the red wire loom has black paint all over it where he painted the M.C. with a spray can as it sat in the car). Unless you were there at the dyno run and he has all the receipts to the motor rebuild I'd be a little skeptical.

ITS EASY TO GET 420 out of a 350 with steel heads! and it is even easer to make a fast SBC look slow!
I does have a vac can for the power brakes!

and a lot of people lie about PH #'s
with the right tires and gears it should hit the hight 12's if the HP is correct

I had a 540hp 327 that was running a cast crank and cast rods (granted, the whole assembly was balanced and the rods were polished) but I did have cast Dart heads and a Super Victor. The can for the power brakes doesn't tell a whole lot either. I had a 330hp 350 in my S-10 that needed a can for the brakes. It wasn't due to horsepower but I was running a pretty lopey cam.

that list is all the mods.

looks like itwill be a pretty good stopilght to stoplight car. i like the B&M slapshift. The carb seem a little big though. it might run better with a little smaller carb, maybe a 650 or 700cfm. my brother is only running a 750cfm on his big block with 525 Hp.

Typical Mustrat owner

Hm my uncle has a camaro running on alky with a small block pushing 1,080 horse power and runs 8.40s all day long.

Our s-10 had 450 horse power WITH A SMALL BLOCK.

Our vega with a 350 had 425 horse power

and our 1969 camaro had 525 horse

Granted none of this motors were run of the mill motors, but it still shows you can pump big numbers out of a small block. If small blocks sucked harecore then why is it the most used motor out of all of them used?

Nice camaro, throw some weld racing wheels on her and mini tub it  I just painted flames on a camaro just like yours, Black then a subaru blue for the flames. Looked super trick.

Nice car .... not too sure if it's a good first car though . I know you said you've driven your parent's car before , but this is in a totally different league . Take it easy with the car thats about all I can tell you .

I'd like to see the dyno results for the 421hp ... i think the guy might have been pulling your chain just a little bit ... but Im sure it's probably up in the high 300s .

First thing you should do , is scrap that 800cfm carb and put something smaller . The most common error in engine building is putting on a carb that is too large . Like someone else said , drop it down to something like a 650 and I bet you'll see even better performance out of the motor ... right now it's getting too much gas for nothing . Hell our drag car didn't even have that big of a carb and we were running a straight drag racing motor

Dude, you have an 85 5.0 rustang. Why the hell would you even reply to this thread.

Are you talking about hp at the motor or rear wheels. At the rear wheels I highly doubt it. I had a 91 mustang with ported heads etc and a 14#ati procharger and the car put out 415hp at the rear wheels. In was in the april 2000 issue of muscle mustang and fast fords. Crazy horse racing (clark, NJ) did the dyno run for it, never talk anyone's word for it unless they give you proof.

My brother had an 85 GT that we used to race with my dad's Chevelle, my small-block S-10 and my virtually drag-only Z28. From the factory the '85 GT came with 210hp. I'll be gracious and give you 50hp with your carb, underdrive pulleys, cam and headers. So you're telling me your 260hp GT turns the tires over by just "tapping" the gas? I'm sure it does, with 5.13 gears and 13" tires off a Civic. Does this dream world you live in have rivers of chocolate syrup and marshmellow clouds?

I have nothing against Fords but to say your GT squeals the tires at 1/4 throttle is outright bogus. I've lived at the race track and know better.
