This question is for everyone that owns or has owned a YZ426 hybrid quad. What is the best gearing setup for MX? I'm changing up the gearing, and would like to hear everyone's setups. Thanks.

this has nothing to do with gearing, but i was just wondering how your 426 does power wise compared to 450,s i just got one thats going in yfz chassis and wanted some feedback.

Very close in power. My friend had issues with stalling his so he put a rekluse in and loves it. I have dragged him many times with my 450 and I will usually get him by 1/2 a quad on a long drag race.

rancid, the power on these things are awesome. You won't be dissapointed.

ss440ex, I am running 18" rear tires, and my current gearing is: 15F/38R. With no flywheel weight. Will there be a noticeable difference going to a 39 tooth rear?

so im assuming if you open one up to a full 450 instead of 426 it would be pretty bad i used to want one but since they ditched the pro class taht aloowed them for the production class im sticking to a production class quad.:ermm:

The front is a 14 tooth/ rear is 39
Alot of us use that gearing for mx.

I like it better then the 14/38

A fly wheel wieght helps take out the throttle choppiness
and makes it easier to ride.
Let chance of stalling.

Do you like the de-comp cam?

How heavy a weight would you suggest for the flywheel? What's the pros and cons of the lighter vs. heavier? Also, I do like the auto-decompression cam. Much easier to start. I do think my valves need a little adjusting, and the jetting needs a little tweaking, but overall the cam helped power. I was kind of surprised that I'd notice a difference, but it seems to pull harder mid to top. I'll check into the 14/39 gearing too. Thanks.
