best way to remove rust..

i have an exhuast pipe that has some rust on it.. i need to know the best way to remove this rust and get the pipe looking good again..

Well, I work at a car detailing place, mostly in the wash area but we have some battery cleaner in an aerosol can. Takes all the corrosion off batteries. I use it on all sorts of metal with rust and just spray it on, wipe it off. Works wonders. Might have to get a brillo pad or something of that sort for the tough ****. I also used it on my chrome truck wheels after the winter.

i use steel wool. but if u go to the dollar store they have this stuff called LA'S totally awesome spray that on and scrub it with steel wool it comes right off or just steel wool works.

its not really rust. its thermal deterioration, it will keep coming back unless you have your headpipe coated. Steelwool does work best to remove it.

i use a #2 pencil, jus scibble over the rusted spot(make sure to cover it all) and then just erase it

I used steel wool. Take you time and it will look better then new.

muriatic acid:D its good ****. but it will strip it down right to metal i think. so if you dont want your chrome job gone,... i wouldnt use it. but im not sure. but i can put money on it, that it will take the rust off:D

The acid does work really good for us and you can get it anywhere but be sure not to breathe it! We stop the rust in advance by hosing it down with WD everytime. Seems to work so far.

over it took all of the rust and stuff off my gun works wonders

i would just sand it down and coat it with engine paint or rustoleum.

hi there if i was you i would by some emery cloth and just rub lightly and keep wiping it down and then polish the bit where the rust was with any metal cleaner.....
