does any one know if it uses the Slot head jet or Hex head. Does it matter? Isnt that just a personal preference?

The main jet is a slot.

The main jets can be either a slot or hex depending on the year.

Older ones like mine (1998) use the Keihin Long Hex Type. Newer models use a slotted type.

Not sure which year they switched. Just get your local dealership parts desk to tell you which kind your year model has.

I'm pretty sure that the '01 still used the long hex type.
