does any one know if it uses the Slot head jet or Hex head. Does it matter? Isnt that just a personal preference?

Depends on the year.

The newer ones use the slot.

Older ones like my 1998 use the long Hex type.

You'll want to match what was in it stock form. Your local dealership can tell you what the stock jet type is for your model year.

Not sure which type the 2001's had. But I beleive it was the long hex type.
