probably either track work or a crash in a earlier race is holding up the pro race, they hardly ever start right at 1200, and lorretta's is 1 hour behind.

Cool...Well now the pressure is on between Doug and Jones..

Jones took 3rd and doug 4th, so that means Doug HAS to beat Jones to get 2nd overall.

anyone know whwre Farr finished?:huh :macho

MrP
08-14-2005, 11:50 AM
No, not sure on Farr. Natalie passed Byrd once but couldnt make it stick. Pat Brown pretty much had third in the bag and broke his axle towards the end of the moto on the tabletop.

Thats all I know.

Is this the guy riding the 450r that nosed it on the big table? I know he left in an ambulance and was sitting up with both ankles wrapped but I couldn't see anything else. If it's the same person I hope he's okay that was a nasting get off.

Anyone know Natalie's condition?

Why was Farr running so far back in the 2nd moto? Did he get caught up with Natalie on the holeshot?

Someone ask about Goodman, I don't remember what he did in the first moto but in the second it looked like he threw a chain possibly.

Great racing but just terrible announcing!

We talked to some people that talked to his sister and he broke both eye sockets, and the palate in his mouth, and i think some teeth might be embedded. Hes in alot of pain so they gave him a setative, she said he should be 'ok' after a few surgeries possibly.

Im not postive on all these details and im sure more will be cleared up soon.

Ryan will be in our prayers also for a speedy recovery. My buddy Nathan Commer was really worried about him after the crash.

Pat Brown will difinitely be a strong contender next year. He has had some tough luck this year, all a part of getting better though. I talked to him a little while ago and he is pumped up for next year. He is heading out soon to go race the 12 Hours race over in France. Good Luck Pat!!!!

quadrcr161
08-15-2005, 12:04 PM
he went down hard at the start of the 2nd moto. it took him a few mins to get up and he rode off in a gold cart. it looked like a bad crash but he was up moving around and later that evening he was at his trailer signing posters for fans during the last few races. all the other pro's were packing up but he still had his table and ez-ups out and a pretty good stack of posters. i bumped into him a few times this weekend and he is very nice and approachable.

he moved up right behind Byrd but couldnt make the pass stick, Byrd is use to racing in the TN heat and knows what it takes to win there. if Natalie would have made it past the start it would have been a great race to watch.

Just got offthe phone with a Ryan Sowers update. He is in Nashville at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He had a breathing tube inserted today to allow him to breath more comfortably because of the swelling in his neck and face. He is in the ICU unit but conscious and able to move. He is scheduled for some pretty intense surgery on Friday. Please keep him in your thoughts

Brian- Sowers came off the double a little funny before the table top...he somehow seat bounced the table top and landed head first with the bike coming down on him. He is still in Nashville at the hospital...I dont want to speculate on his condition because it has not yet been confirmed. But surgery has been scheduled for friday. Quadchick3 was able to get me this info.

Sowers if your on the forums and get back to reading this i wish you the best of luck in recovery because that was by far the worst crash i have ever seen in any video or race ever...I thank god that i didnt land on you b/c i was right behind you

East Coast Films (AlexK on the forums) actually caught the whole thing on video...Ill keep it untill we find out his true condition after surgery and if its ok w/ everyone ill post it up

protraxrptr17
08-15-2005, 07:18 PM
I agree, that was definitely the worst crash I've ever seen. I was afraid for his life. That double was throwing everybody squirelly and messing them up for the table. Even the pro's were having trouble with it.

Hey everyone thank you so much for thinking of Ryan. My family and Ryan has been through a lot in the last 24hours. Ryan as he would say ate ****. When the medical crew got to Ryan on the track he was not breathing and there was blood everywhere. They got him off the track and in the medical unit. Ryan refused treatment and wanted to go watch Deason race. I honestly do not believe that Ryan new how serious his injuries were, actually I do not believe anyone knew how serious his injuries were. The medical group at the track called off Life Flight. Our cousin who is on the rescue squad in Thompson Station Tn demanded that he be Life Flighted To Vanderbilt. Our family is so lucky that Bobby our cousin stepped in. He is in the truama unit in Nashville Tn at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has broke every bone in his face except his jaw, he has alot of blood in his lungs, bruise on his brain and some cracked ribs. He was on a venilator for the first 24 hours. They have recently taken him off and he is breathing 100% on his own. They thought that they might have to put a treach tube in his throat. They have decided against that since he is doing so well. The have taken him down a level in trauma unit. The plan to perform surgery on Friday. The are hoping that he does not get a Pneumonia. He was responding to us today and is doing a lot better. If anyone has any questions please email me at megan__s@hotmail.com.

Hey everyone,
This is Sowers' sister. Just alittle FYI. He is out of the trauma unit and in a regular room. I printed out all of the messages that you guys posted he just wanted to relay a message, he said he is ready to back to racing and you all better watch out! LOL! He is doing a lot better. The surgery is still set for Friday. This is a major surgery so you all need to be praying for him and also if you are close to Ryan and you know how he is you all know that he is not doing the things that he needs to be doing to get better. We all need to get on him and tell him that he needs to eat and do his breathing treatments. If Ryan does not start and eat they are going to tube him so he gets the right nutrients. He says the only thing that he wants is to get his teeth fixed. The surgeon stated yesterday that after his surgery on Friday they will be able to place his teeth back where they were. He is still not sure what all happened on the track or after the track and he probably won't. Anyways he is doing a lot better and I thought that all of you should know! Thanks for all the support!! The Sowers Family!

I am trying to figure out how it dove so bad. You can hear he was panick revving but it did not slow down the nose at all, it dropped like a rock. Did he seat bounce and perhaps the back end loaded better than the front causing it to flip like that? I just do ont get how it dropped so fast.

Best wishes to Ryan. Hope he gets back to 100%. As for racing again...if he does all I can say is wow after that crash.

From what I read on here and other forums , people were saying that they were getting launched off the jump wierd every time.. no matter what happened that was a NASTY crash . Luckily none of the other riders landed on him . I really wish him the best of luck and a speedy recovery .

Ryan's sister, tell Ryan that Kyle Sands is thinking about him, we are D-12 riding buddies and if he doesnt start eating right I will drive to Nashville make him eat( just a little humor to lighten up his day) we got to talk for a few minutes on saturday after qualifying, but watching the crash in person is something that I will never forget...as far as how he crashed he cased the double before the table top a little and seemed to have thrown him a little jerky which caused him to hit the table top sitting down...seat bouncing the table top is what caused the bike to dive so hard...it happened so quick he didnt have much time to panic rev it to correct the situation...Im glad to hear he is doing better...send him my best please.

just watched the video, i feel sick. . . everyone needs to thank God for sparing his life, i just about lost my best friend to a very similar crash, we are praying for him here in Arkansas, i know how nasty that jump is, i about crashed on it in 03'. Thank goodness he kind-of cleared the jump with his body, if he wouldve hit flat ground it could have been ALOT worse. good luck bud, looks like you are a very fast rider!

I have printed out everything that everyone has said and taken them to the hospital so I can read them to him. He appreciates that everyone is praying for him and thinking about him. I really don't want to give out his room phone # due to the fact that he really does not want to talk to anyone. He is still sleeping a lot and really not in the mood. When he starts to feel better then I will see if it is ok with him to give the # out. Thanks again! Megan

Megan, it's Cathy. Please tell Ryan that Spanky and I and the boys are thinking about him every minute. Also tell him, he's just like his Thor, you can't keep a good one down! You all know how we feel about you and thanks so much for your daily calls and updates. After seeing the accident I don't know how he survived. I'm glad we decided not to go in that I wouldn't have wanted to see it in person but on the other hand I'm sorry we didn't go and weren't there for all of you when it happened.
Ryan, were giving your sister permission to kick your A if you don't eat and do your treatments so you can get out of there and get home so we can rag on you. We will have the seatbelt that we have always teased you about waiting, LOL We love you Sowers, get well soon.
Meg, please give Mom and Dad hugs from us till we get to see them and don't forget to call if you need ANYTHING!!!

I am not exactly sure how to put into words what I feel in my heart for all the wonderful people in the atv world. Ryan truly appreciates all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes he has received from his extended family in the racing community. We feel so lucky to know so many wonderful people and appreciate all the well wishes from people we don't know.
I am happy to report that we had Ryan to the local doctor and he has assured us that Ryan will probably not need any more surgery. The bones is his face are healing nicely. We were very lucky that his surgery was not as extensive as they first thought it would be. I just want to thank everyone who helped us through this trying time with Ryan. We are so lucky.

This is super news to hear everyone is doing much better. Our thoughts and prayers were with both muff and ryan. Yes muff I understand the cost of the lifeflight. My son was involved in a pit accident last year at the Ashtabula TT National and was lifeflighted only 30 minutes if that and the cost was $7070.00. It really sucks. But anyway glad everyone is on the road to recovery.!!!!

It will eventually get finished, and I wish it was already finished, but it is tough sometimes keeping up with everything and working a fulltime job on top of it and raising a family.

Eventually, I hope to be able to dedicate 100% of my time to ATVriders.com, but I must work another job for now to cover the expenses.
