They only hooked up 8,500 watts in amps, but the sub peaks at 12,000 watts. Thats rediculous.

I can't believe they are getting excited over 130 db's??? thats nothing, my truck with one 12" JL 12W3 is hitting 135. I used to compete and my old prelude hit 152 dbs. with that much wattage they should be in the 160's or 170's.

10,000 watts max, 5,000 watts rms. that would sound way better:cool: there also completely rebuildable so if you blow em your not out a couple grand.

Shoulda let Team Gates hook him up....

I believe the specs are 48 L7 10's with 48000 watts, hitting ~172db

And yes, her hair is getting blown out of the vehicle.

If you noticed, they were "metering" with the windows down and doors open. DB is measured by SPL, sound pressure level. With windows down all pressure escapes. Not to mention, how accurate is it?? With an RTA and windows up, I wouldn't be surprised to see 160+ DB.

Believe it or not, the Jackhammer is a Sound quality sub. Much like that SoloX.

Retails for $5,999. Cost on that thing is $2,999.

I dont know about the Jackhammer, because I have never personally heard it before...but, the Solo X is defiantely not sound quality oriented.

and you're basing that on what? i certainly hope you're not basing that comment on cone size alone...because you'd be wrong. inductance has much more to do with transience response than cone size

standardryder

no, i wasnt talking about cone size. you could put 20 cap's into thats system and it bet it would still hit alot slower then the actual bass. something of that size IMO would be pointless unless you want ONE of the biggest subs you can find. transient responce has everything to do with a system. you cant expect to much just from a little 12v car batterie. and i dont think you would be able to get get enough energy into that sub for it to hit as quick as a 12.

first of all, capacitors have nothing to do with how fast a sub moves. The speed of the sub depends on the frequency that you send to it. HOW MUCH a sub moves depends on how much power you send to it, relative to how much power it can take. Secondly, most people with larger systems will have more than just 1 12 volt battery. In fact, some may even run multiple batteries at upwards of 18 volts, though it is not suitable for everyday use. (most of the time... )

ya and if you look they use 3 yellow top batteries for it and 6 capacitors.

Yeah the windows need to be up and the doors need to be shut... it would POUND... i have heard and read all about that Jakehammer and it is designed to be a SQ sub but with all that mass it is hard to move it in the right speed to get the SQ out of it...

I had 3 15W6 and 2000 Watts in my Ranger and it was knocking on 155dBs..... i had an Impala with 1 12w7 and was hitting 148dB..... (with the seats up)

Then i put 3 12W6 in a s-10 with 1200wats and hit 150dB with it....

with 8500 watts i would rather see 8 12W7s with 1000 watts to each and then that would be in the 170 range with the right sound proofing.....

i had a guy with 4 JL 12W0s beat me out of the water at a competition cause he had his truck totally done up.... bullet proof this and bullet proof that with 1" of Brown Bread deadner in the entire thing....

All the numbers up above where just speakers thrown in the vehicles... i had my doors and trunk done with dynamat in my Impala and the doors done with my Ranger but if you could get it to where NOTHING Rattles then that is where its at... BIG BOOM for the MICROPHONE...

CONE AREA is MORE IMPORTANT THAN WATAGE...!!!!!! (in this aspect anyway)

This Years Record... 177.8dB... 6 15" DD Audio 9915s and 50,000 wats.....:eek2:

what kind of setup box configuration were you using with JL equipment? Also, that 177.8 seems a little low:devil: ;) :D
