I just got my new gibson steering stabilizer for my 400ex but it didnt come with instructions. Every stabilizer I have seen on this machine mounts to the right front motor mount but my clamp does not fit on it (at least not very well). I dont see how else it could mount. Thanks for any help.

theres a little slot in your motor mount the stabilizer goes through that slot. ill try to get a pic of mine today to help you out

Did you have to grind the slot out? I tried that but it left a gap between the pieces of the clamp and didnt mate up very well.

did you tighten it all the way down? you might need to put some washers in it to get it tight enough. on my stabilizer (PEP) you have to hold a wrench on both sides and tighten because on bolt will just spin unless another wrentch is holding it in place. post a pic of how yours looks i should be able to tell if your puting it on right sounds like you might have it backwards

If it's the Denton style, it won't mount on to the engine mount, they go from the stem to the frame...

Does it matter where on the steering stem the clamp goes? I have it halfway mounted to the motor mount but it really does not seem right. The frame mount for the stabilizer did have some rounded edges on the inside like it would mount to the frame but I could not figure out where. I will try it on the front like the one above and see what happens. I really wish this would have come with instructions.
