View Full Version : 400ex axle in a 450R???? Will it work?

I was wondering if anyone has tried to put a 400ex axle in a 450r. If it fits, do you need a 400ex bearing carrier or anything else from the 400ex?

i know it won't with the stock 450r carrier.

I use to have a 400ex axle and carrier in my 450r....

I have no idea how, but my friends 400ex durabreak fit perfectly into his 450r carrier...

wow that is odd, we couldnt get just the axle to work, but im sure with the carrier and axle it would work

So, as long as I use the 400ex carrier, then everything else should fit?

No problem with the brakes at all?

I have a 400 axle on my 450 no problem I use the stock 450 carrier and all fits no problem.

If you put a 450R sprocket hub on it will work fine.

Hey scrapen,

What kind of axle are you using? Is it a stock axle?

The reason I am asking is because I have not bought the Honda yet and I have 400ex axles. If I dont need to sell them and get 450r axles it would be sweet.

I keep getting people that say it will work but you need to do this and that.

I was wondering what kind of problems anyone had with just puting the 400ex axle in the stock 450R.

414tinner..I have tried to put my 400ex RPM axle in my 450r RPM carrier. The Sprocket Hub rubs the carrier.

But i have seen some people fit 400ex Durablues into their stock carriers....kind of weird if you ask me..

Thank you roostin_dale. I have a Durablue 400ex axle and Team Industries 400ex axle. At least one of them might fit.


Has anyone tried a Team Industries axle?

I have a 400ex RPM axle and RAD 400ex carrier and it fits perfectly.

400 axle fits into stock 450 with no mods or trouble. did it on mine. still works great:D

just pulled the dura blue out of my 440 last week and transplanted it straight to a buddies 450. used my axle, lock-nut and sprocket hub. left his carrier and brake set up just as they were. chain looked a little off until i tightened everything down. no binding at all. ran a night of tt and things are still as snug as l'd put them.
