why is it such a bad idea to put 400 ex aarms on a 300ex. is it any better to use 250r aarms? I would like to buy aftermarket but can not afford it.

SEARCH...its not that its a bad idea its just that the 400 arms are not made for the geometry for the 300...250r and 400ex arms are intergangable i think. i am going with 400ex aarms and 300ex+2 shocks not the best combo but its gonna do what i want it for

If you dont have the money now, start saving. Buy parts that are made for your bike, especially when it comes to something like suspension.

i used 250R a arms and tie rods with warrior shocks just grind down the eye's of the shocks to make them fit...perfect hieght

Still the valving and weight setup of the shock are completely different. Your better off getting the setup for your quad then trying to go the cheap way. you'll just end up costing yourself more money.

guys look! you complain about the valving is wrong and the geometry is off... the warrior is a heavier quad and so is the banshee,400ex,z400 so as long as your not putting the shocks at too much of a pitch itll work as long as you are happy with it
using the warrior shock puts the shocks angle pretty close to the warrior's plus it keeps the 300's ride height . my wife is like 115lbs the shocks are on the softest setting and she loves it
there is "BUMP STEER" but it was there from stock. its nothing a stablizer wouldn't fix. and if you think this settup wrestls you around a track. try riding a warrior around a supercross track for 5
laps and that 300 will feel like heaven! lol...

Of course it will work, but it can cause premature balljoint wear. Plus who wants bumpsteer? I think I could corner better without bumpsteer then with it...but that's just me...overall, it is not a good idea...I can put motorcycle shocks on my 400ex, and it'll work just fine...but should I ride like that? Nope..not worth buying new a arms every 3 months because the balljoints wear out...

you guys also say flipped rims do the same thing but i've had no problems! by the way .what are saying is wearing out the ball joints? the shocks that i used puts the ride height right were the 300 used to be...shocks that are too long, too short, or have more shaft travel than your arms will allow, is what wears out the joints. If your riding a machine that has the potential to take your life i would at least get informed on how things work.!! just because you "can" spend $2000 on a suspension setup doesn't
mean its the only way. I myself ride a warrior and if i could fit a YFZ front end on it you can bet your ***** it would be there.
what i don't agree with is the 400 shock relocator. without welding it. it seems dangerous unless you use high grade bolts.
but anyways i'm through.................:eek2:
besides you ride a 400 what do you care??

Your saying the shocks act exactly the same? Are deisgned specifially to work with that type of machine? If they aren't, then yes, they can cause pre-mature balljoint wear. Ride height has little to do with that matter. If it didn't matter, everyone would be suggesting to do it and you'd see a ton more people doing it.

It doesn't make sense to me...but oh well.
